I heard it an I was like "Wow"

JP really stuck it to the both of them. "One only made it to the majors for about a month, and the other wasn't very good at all "

i always found it funny how Toronto reporters never mention Zaun's reported PED use, nor was it ever pursued in interviews while or after he played.

his reward for using PEDs? a job on television. nice.

JP has trouble seeing the flaws in his game. Zaun and Garfoose might be over the top some times, however, imagine the criticism he'd receive if he played for the Leafs.

I can respect him for calling out his critics, ultimately he's got to back it up on the field now.

JP just pulled a Cecil. If history repeats itself, he will now close his Twitter account, be sent to the minors to struggle for a while, and eventually return to be one of the best catchers in baseball.

I am OK with this.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

right.
but he doesn't have the skillset to do so.
it isn't like Zaun and Garfoose said anything too outlandish.
JP likely calls a below-average game.
he isn't a great defensive catcher.
he is a streaky hitter with a crappy average but above-average power but who sucks when runners are in scoring position.

I'm sure brady and lang know more about baseball than Zaun and Hayhurst.

Arencibia is a joke on the field and off it . Get rid of this guy.

Saw it pointed out on Twitter that Zaun's career average (.252) is better than JPA's OBP this year (.244).

Honestly, he seems so sensitive. And striking out at his critics while he's been godawful on the field is not really what I want from him, either -- but I guess striking out is what he knows best.

(Yeeeugh, sorry).

history shows that lashing out at the media does not result in more positive feedback from them.

Although I used to actually find him insightful, Zaun has slowly become nothing more than a screaming hot head over the past two years. He really doesn't offer any insight nowadays.

A week or so before the 11 game winning streak, he was on Tim and Sid going off about how he'd blow up the team and was naming guys like Lawrie and Rasmus as the biggest disappointments who need to be moved.

He seemed to back off that pretty quickly during the winning streak. He's just trying to be controversial whenever he opens his mouth.

JP's been mostly terrible this year, and it would be nice to see him back it up now, but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't just personal and JP delivered a message from a few guys in that club house.

Ouch!

It was easier to overlook the strikeouts in April when he was at least slugging the ball when he made contact. In May, Jun and Jul he's posted SLG of .375/.325/.125.

They way JP has been playing I'd take Zaun over him right now in a heartbeat.

Honestly, he needs to shut his trap and play. He's been garbage since May. Zaun and Hayhurst are speaking the truth, he's a K machine whose defence is mediocre at best.
That's what she said.

Some of the best broadcasters have never played baseball (or were marginal at best)
Some of the worst broadcasters were great players.
I've never played baseball at a high level.
I don't broadcast baseball games.
I can see that JPA is struggling.

Gregg Zaun and JPA both wear their proverbial heart's on their sleeves.
They're both emotional guys who, sometimes, let their feelings get the best of them.
Those who followed Zaun's career now that he was outspoken, tell-it-like-it-is during his career. It's not a schtick a la Don Cherry. That doesn't mean you have to like his approach, of course, but it is genuinely his personality you see on display on a regular basis.

Zaun and Hayhurst are over the top, but this team, a lot of the players don't seem to deal wel with criticism. If they can't handle a little public scrutiny and so many of them are stuck in their ways, no wonder they can't address the flaws in their games. And many of them have flaws, that's for sure. Zaun and Hayhurst have pointed it. Do they go too far sometimes? Maybe. I'm fine with JP saying what he said if he felt like he needed to say it, but he also needs to reflect on what type of hitter he is and how to be more successful and help the team offensively and as a catcher cause he's doing things that also hurt the pitchers as the primary catcher.

An interesting point that came up after all this. JP said he doesn't respect a guy who used PEDs to stay in the league, and no one in the clubhouse respects either of those guys. Hello, Melky???

Poor Melky. JP must hate him.

I find this all amusing. For the most part, I don't like any of em. Zaun's become too much like Cherry, Hayhurst often sounds pompous, and JP sucks.

But JP seems to be mad at Zaun and Hayhurst for telling the truth? I guess there are casual fans who listen and get influenced by the things Zaun and Hayhurst say, but a lot of us who follow the team more strongly didn't need Zaun or Hayhurst to tell us that JP sucks at blocking the plate and at batting efficiently. They aren't lying or stretching the truth. And I don't think too many people believe JP doesn't care about getting better or isn't trying hard to improve, which is the argument he's making to defend himself.
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.

JPA is a joke. Worry about being a better baseball player.

Someone in the media should ask him what he thinks about Melky.
