Granger has always been a rugged player, with intangibles. A decent but not prolific scorer. Carried the scoring load for some awful Pacer teams, leading the team in PPG from 2007-2012.

Other considerations:
- The signings of David West (3/$36M) and Chris Copeland (signed to Restricted Offer Sheet of 2/$6M) have put the Pacers, typically a frugal team, over the salary cap
- Paul George emerged in the playoffs as a premier player at Granger's position
- Granger missed the bulk (77 games) of the 2012-13 season due to a knee injury

IF he's not healthy then why bother?

If it's a deal to reach the minimum team salary then yes, give up nothing but cap space. But I doubt the Pacers would go for that

Personally, I believe that Granger is a great target for the Pistons. The team is missing a true NBA starting caliber SF. Granger is league-average at the position, and is on a short term contract.

The veteran leadership on the Pistons is now pared down to Stuckey and Villanueva. Not good.

The Pacers are unlikely to give him away. Despite being over the cap, they still have some wiggle and don't need to dump his entire salary. If they are to dump his salary, trading w/in the division is the least likely place that they will offer a clearance sale.

Willing to give up one of the recent 2nd rounders: English, Middleton, Siva, Mitchell (ranked in order of willingness to deal away).
Additionally, non-2014 2nd round draft picks.

Granger for Stuckey would work for me... Anything else with us moving assets would be a no.

The Pacers seem attached to Granger, at the moment. It makes sense. If he can actually play, he might help them get over the Miami hump they face last year. If not, he's an expiring contract for them.

I wouldn't expect him to be moved before the season, unless Indiana already believes he can't play.

Pacers aren't gonna give him up when he was the missing ingredient to the Pacers being a championship team

I like Granger as a target, but we are not likely to get him. First of all, Pacers were close to knocking off the Heat without Granger, so in their eyes, he may be the difference maker. Second, until Granger gets on the floor again, no one will give the Pacers top value in a trade. And last, let's assume Granger is back to 100% - do we really have anything the Pacers would like?
