The Phillies have placed Ryan Howard on the disabled list with left knee inflammation.
Ruben Amaro Jr. said Howard will undergo an MRI on Sunday or Monday, at which point the team will decide if surgery is a potential option.
Howard has been experiencing discomfort in the knee since early May and received a cortisone shot last weekend.
Howard is hitting .266/.319/.465 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI.
