Rivera Blows First Home Save Since 2010

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jul 8, 2013 12:26 pm

Adam Jones hit a two-run home run off Mariano Rivera in the ninth inning at Yankee Stadium on Sunday to give the Orioles a 2-1 win over the Yankees.

Rivera had converted 41 straight save opportunities at home, a streak that took him all the way back to September 2010.

"It's off the greatest closer in the history of the game. I'll always remember it," Jones said. "You've got to win, and we haven't been playing that well. We need to tighten up. We need to clean it up around here."

For Rivera, it was just his second blown save of the season and the first homer he's allowed at home since August 2011.
