The Red Sox are taking extra precautions with Jon Lester as they begin the second half of the season.
Boston scratched Lester from his scheduled start against the Yankees on Sunday night with "general wear and tear," according to John Farrell.
Ryan Dempster will start Sunday night and Lester will get the ball on Tuesday.
"We felt like two things: One, we have an opportunity right now to give him a couple extra days coming out of the break," Farrell said. "And two, he'll benefit from it."
