I don't know if these were posted but before Macklemore's big breakout song Thrift Shop launched him from indie rapper to top 40 star he had written a song for the Seattle Mariner's Dave Niehaus.
I missed Tom Cheek day but did any local artists perform any tribute songs like this?

Sorry about the URLs not embedding on all devices. I posted from Tapatalk so those on mobiles can probably see these embedded but those on PCs will probably have to copy into a new tab. Good videos though. Reminds that men like Niehaus and Cheek were a soundtrack to entire generation and that some of those calls are as embedded into the memories of fans as the images themselves.

Rapper immortalizes the voice of the Blue Jays
For 27 years, Tom Cheek called each and every Toronto Blue Jays baseball game, and for 20 of those years, RationaL (Matt Brotzel) was listening. He still would be if the beloved Jays radio announcer was still calling games today.
Cheek was 66 when he died from brain cancer in 2005, the same year Jays fans heard his voice over their radios for the last time. Cheek was known as "the voice of the Blue Jays." Since the team's inception in 1977, he called the first 4,306 regularseason games. Hearing his smooth, baritone voice meant it was 5 p.m. and the game was on.
"He's the greatest Blue Jay of all time," says RationaL, a local hip-hop artist and the ultimate Jays fan. "He's not a player, but no player has ever played 1977 till 2004 ... for 28 years."
RationaL's love for his team runs deep. He rattles off names, years and statistics as if he's telling you the days of the week. He talks with so much passion and excitement about the team that it's practically contagious. "Oh, I'm so loyal," he says, rolling his eyes and tilting his head back.

I've never even heard of the guy to be honest with you. I just thought some baseball fans feeling nostalgic about Cheek might enjoy the Niehaus tribute as well if they hadn't seen it. The lyrics and video capture a warm feeling of nostalgia for the sport that most of us can probably relate to (playing the sport as kids, watching our favorite teams, and listening to some great calls from quality broadcasters).
