Regular Season Pacer Tickets for Sale... Why do late?

Post#1 » by Robertchk » Thu Aug 8, 2013 1:57 am

Does anyone know why some teams release regular season tickets so much later than others? Example, Clippers and Suns individual regular season single tickets went on sale today, but the Bulls and Pacer, etc... did not.

Probably just to drive season tickets or package ticket sales.

Scott,

Attend many home games? This is going to be my first season attending so I am very novice to the area... any spots the wife, friends, and I can't miss while attending?

I've lived in Cleveland the last 5 years, so I tend to see the Pacers 2x a year here.

Otherwise, there's lots of great things around town. Are you guys shoppers, museum people, partiers, outdoorsy? Helps to narrow down the ideas.

No matter what, I always recommend The Slippery Noodle. It's a GREAT blues bar just a couple blocks south of downtown. Easy walk from the arena on game nights.

some ticket packages can't be put together for sale until the schedule is announced. full and half season packages have been on sale for months but the smaller packages haven't been announced yet and single game sales probably don't begin until they've had some time to hustle the 10 and 11 game options. also I think with single game prices the Pacers now change the cost game by game so that a single Miami game ticket might cost more than a Charlotte ticket. that pricing is probably going on now.

I've had tickets going all the way back to MSA. I started with half season tickets and took my son. when he got to be 16 going out with Dad lost priority and I switched to just one full season ticket. when we moved to the lake I dropped back to half season and this year I'm looking to get a still smaller package. I've been talking about it with my ticket rep since before the playoffs and she hasn't been able to sign me up for anything less than half season tickets. I assume someone is busy putting together the smaller packages right now.

as for things not to miss on game nights, I suppose that depends upon whether you live in Indy and come downtown regularly or whether you are driving a distance and have no familiarity with the area.

parking should be your first question unless you have bought a season pass to the parking garage as part of your ticket package. my secret free parking advice is to drive north (away from fieldhouse) on Delaware from say Washington St as soon after 6 o'clock as possible. it is a no parking street before 6. stay to the left as that is where the spots are although if you get past market street and the left looks full there are a few spots on the right in front of the City Market that never fill quickly. you should be able to find a spot somewhere between Market and Ohio. you have to be early and lucky to get a spot between Washington and Market. it used to be free parking after 6 but now you must feed the meters. they take credit cards and you can just keep adding time because the meters are smart and they know the time at which parking becomes free (I think it may be 8) and they will stop you from adding time once you have punched in enough to get you to the free point. you'll spend 3 or 4 dollars which is much less than any lot. I'm no longer sure what the best lot choice is as they built new buildings in what used to be my go to lot when street parking was full.

our go to pregame meal is Pearl Street Pizza which is off an alley on the East side of Penn half a block North of Maryland. Moe's steakhouse and Scotty's sports bar tend to be full. Moe's is great but expensive. players sometimes go there after the game. a good high end choice that usually has seats is Adobo the upscale Mexican on Washington St. there is a little Pita place right by it that is decent, cheap, and rarely crowded at all. if all else fails, you can enter the fieldhouse through the Dunking Donuts in the gift shop and get a sandwich and a drink for much less than inside. once in the wings at Quaker State are worth a try although they take forever to fill your order. the same is true of the Hardee's on the Southwest corner of the first floor. they also cook to order so you need to be prepared to wait. the BBQ stand on the west side has nachos and baked potatoes covered with Q. if you are into nachos, you'll want to experiment as they are sold all over the building and prices and toppings vary from stand to stand. the ice cream stand on the west is a half time option if you get there quickly before the lines build up. there are always some changes in the food options each year so do a full circle of the first floor to learn what is where.

Scoot and Wizop,

Thank you very much, I appreciate all the info I can get.

I am a first time season ticket holder from Chicago, but have love for any good matchup, and will be making the trip from time to time... extremely excited for this upcoming season; believe this will be the highest rated season since 1998 as the parity hasn't been this way in such a long time. We might actually see some 90's style playoff series this season, meaning very physical and pounding the ball inside first more often!

Thanks again, I will check out most of these places when we come to town.

BLF is going to be rocking this season!

According to Wells and Grady, the Quaker Steak & Lube Wings spot is no longer. They'll keep the similar wings in a different, re-branded storefront, but it has the likelihood to be a different taste.

each year some places go and some new ones appear. I'm not all that surprised the Quaker Steak joint moved on as waiting before before and after your order doesn't make you want to come back next time. if there are any Fever fans here, they might be able to give a more up to the minute report.

I have a buddy who's a chef at the Fieldhouse. I'll see if he's heard anything.

Return to Indiana Pacers
