Your Top 5 Most Memorable Moments in Lakers History

Post#1 » by EArl » Fri Aug 30, 2013 3:52 am

What are your top 5 (In Game) moments in lakers History?

Here are mine.
1)Kobe to shaq alley-oop (2000)

I was young when this game happened and this play always brings back nostalgia

2)Magic Skyhook (1987)

I was not alive for this game, but i have seen it several times and the sky hook over McHale and parish is just beautiful.

3)Big Shot Bob against game winner vs the Sac Queens (2002)

A game that was competitive from top to finish and the game winner sealed the deal

4)Magic NBA Finals Game 6 Performance (1980)

Another one that I have watched several times. The rookie Magic taking over the game and clinching the finals.

5)81 Points (2006)

Kobe at his best and worst, but one of the greatest scoring performances of all time.

Honorable mention:Kobe Suns playoff game winner 2006

Picking just 5 most memorable moments would be like asking a father of 12 to pick his 5 favorite kids.

These are some of my faves in no particular order.

Magic game 6 performance to win his first NBA championship with the Lakers
Lakers beating the Celtics for the first time in the finals in 1985
Magic baby skyhook
Worthy finals MVP
Magic HIV positive announcement
Magic all-star performance
Magic returning to the NBA
Shaq-Kobe 3-peat including: Kobe to Shaq alley oop, Fisher .4 second shot, Horry game winner vs Sacto.
Kobe 81
Kobe performance vs Suns even though they lost the series in 7 games
First championship post Shaq era vs Orlando
Championship over Celtics including Artest 3 pointer
Sometimes being wrong is awesome!!! :D

I was there too lakerRD, with my dad. I remember when that shot fell through, the silence was bone chilling. I remember seeing Micheal Cooper falling in a weakened state flat on the floor.

Bone chilling is a perfect way to describe it. I remeber just being stunned. Sampson just flicked the ball up toward the basket, almost a backward shot, and the dang thing bounced a couple of times and then fell through the net.
I also remeber Coop just collapsing and the silence you could feel to your core.
Deep, I love that you mentioned going to the game with your dad.
I took my dad to a few games before he passed in 2008. Those were just regular season games, but the memories will last with me forever.

... 81 point game ...
... rookie Magic playing center with Kareem out in an NBA finals ...
... torn achilles free throw ...
... 0.4 shot by fish ...
... the 3 by Horry to beat the kings ...

... a lot of Kobe plays (specially the ones with MVP chants on opponent's arena, like in rose garden) ...

... one of my personal favorite is Sasha's crucial free throws against the Celtics ... go to be my favorite championship ... it was a come from behind win ... revenge ... and to top it all it was against the Celtics ... ^_^
