Harvey Optimistic He'll Avoid Tommy John Surgery

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Sep 10, 2013 8:26 pm

Matt Harvey is still optimistic that he'll be able to avoid Tommy John surgery.

New York Mets doctors diagnosed Harvey with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow on Aug. 26. Harvey is scheduled to visit Dr. James Andrews in the coming days.

"Everything feels fine. My arm feels great," Harvey said. "I'm still very optimistic about everything. But I'm not a doctor, so we'll see what happens."

Harvey recently spoke with Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Roy Halladay, who decided several years ago to bypass surgery -- although it is not clear Halladay's injury was identical.

"I'm going to get as many opinions as I can," Harvey said. "And which way I decide to go, I'm going to go 150 percent."
