Clippers: The good, The Bad, The Ugly

The Good:
So far I like our offensive flow and scoring from the starting unit. Doc’s system has made us into an offensive juggernaut. Chris Paul is in MVP form and Blake is back to averaging 20 and 10. Doc has also led to improved play from DeAndre Jordan. JJ has been great, especially getting us off to fast start in the first quarter. The jury is still out on Dudley but he does have a better shot selection than Caron Butler did.

The Bad:
Our bench is BAD especially our back up big men. The only bright spot is Jamal Crawford but everyone else is giving us next to nothing. Collison has been shooting terrible and making shaky decisions, a complete 180 from the preseason. Barnes has been injured and still looks like he needs time to get back to form. Once again I can’t state enough how HORRIBLE our back up big men are.

The Ugly:
Our Defense has been horrendous. I think we are giving up the most points in the league (if not we are close). I’m not sure if we are getting use to the new system but everyone seems like they are hesitating on their rotations. It seems like every time someone makes an easy drive to the basket the Clippers that were in a position to help all take half a step then stop then look at each other like they thought someone else was going to contest the shot. Or everyone rotates to the same guy leaving a shooter wide open. I hope it’s something that improves as the season goes on and the players get use to the defensive schemes.

What are your observations of the team so far?
