As much as I hated Verlander getting it that one year, Kershaw winning it would be just as bad. No pitcher is ever more deserving of an MVP award since they only pitch every 5 days compared to a position player who is out there every day providing value. Pitchers have their own award and that should be enough.

Sure he is but let's at least be realistic, no one will ever accomplish those types of numbers. I'm simply basing my opinion off of what pitchers provide in terms of value compared to what position players provide, which I believe is a significant difference.

But yeah if a pitcher came in and put up those types of numbers, he'd be a deserving MVP. But that's only because he wouldn't be a human being.

Three things drew my attention to making Trout more deserving than Miggy:

1. He was the only player in the AL this season to draw 100+ walks, he had 110.
2. His WAR was 9.2, compared to Miggy's 7.2.
3. His dWAR took a significant hit from last season, but he was still nearly a full point better than Miggy.

I know sabermetrics aren't everyone's cup of tea, but those last two blow my mind. All of this is also ignoring the fact that Trout's "protection" of Pujols/Hamilton were (in terms of past production and ability) absolutely dreadful.
