What do you guys think about Chuck defending the Wizards?

Post#1 » by Gilfanatic123 » Sun Feb 16, 2014 9:15 pm

On NBA on TNT last night he made several glowing comments towards Bradley Beal, John Wall and the current Washington Wizards. I still remember all the things he's said in the past. Do you think he's really changed his opinion? Is he just bandwagoning, trying to not say stupid things and trying to get people to forget about the past? Or do you think he is being genuine?

Do you like having him as an ally?
To do list
==========
1. Fire Ernie Grunfield
2. Get a GM who doesn't screw the fans all the time
3. Beat the Cavaliers in the playoffs
4. Get the no.1 draft pick
5. Get John Wall

He's a big fan of Wall/Beal.

Been jocking them all season.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

He thinks the Wizards will get the #3 seed. He clearly hasn't been watching. If he was, he'd talk about how our offense sucks because of too many jump shots.

Nice to have someone on our side; just wish it was someone whose opinion I respected more (although he may be the most entertaining basketball color man in history).

I think there is a lot to like about this team. In general, I think they play the game "the right way". The play hard defense, they have an unselfish star running the show, they have a couple of smart big men, and Webster and Ariza are nearly perfect as prototypical role playing 3&D forwards. You get the sense that when the Wizards play well, they can truly dominate in most facets of the game. By comparison, the good Arenas-led teams of the past seemed to only win based on red hot perimeter shooting. You never felt that the team WAS good, only that they PLAYED good on given nights.

Don't get me wrong. The team is definitely flawed. The main issue is that Wall and Beal haven't reached their prime yet, and when they do, Nene and Gasol will be on their downside. But if, for argument's sake, Nene and Gasol were 28 and 27 respectively, we would all feel pretty good about this team going forward.

I assume you mean Gortat. But yes, they do play the "right" way. Except for when the bench is in.

Yes. Gortat.

Another thing is that Barkley, as well as most fans in general, tend to assume that youngsters develop faster than they really do, and that older players decline slower than they really do. So Barkley is projecting Beal to be in his prime in just a year or two (when it is likely to take more like 4 years) and he is assuming that the Nene will be just as good in 2 years as he is right now (which is unlikely).

Chuck is pretty good and he knows talent when he sees it. Wizards fans actually underrate Wall and Beal. Constantly kicking around ridiculous trades. The entire rest of the basketball world is very high on Wall/Beal. They think that, in a year or two, we're getting a decade straight of annual AS appearances from those two.

Wizards are a very watchable team when they're on. Either Bill Simmons or Zach Lowe (can't remember who) ranked them as one of the best 'league pass' teams currently.

Even though as fans we have our gripes with the team, there aren't many other teams that have the combination of versatile talent that Washington does, and that makes them somewhat attractive to casual viewers.

I don't know that we're better than Toronto or Atlanta, but most people would agree that we're capable of playing at the level of the 3rd best team in the East. That's where all the love comes from

but does so much for your offense in every way. and he hasn't fallen off the cliff defensively, would love to see him back at C in a more structured scheme.

1. Eg would try to overpay to keep him.

2. extremely unlikely he would want to stay if we did get him.

3. how many yrs does he really left?

I think If we could get Pau at a price that matches what he is, an aging one-two year contract guy for a play off team. then I would be fine with trading for him
If we could do something like.
NENE, Jan, Singleton, Seraphin, and some second round picks for Pau and Kelly.

That would be a trade that I would do all day every day! That would give us a light up grade at PF for a play off push and hell's of cap room to improve the team next year. Gives the lakers a vet and some young players and picks. But, I doubt that this trade will be happening any time soon.
