Nuggets Plan To Discuss Contract Extension With Kenneth Faried

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu May 8, 2014 2:09 am

The Denver Nuggets plan to discuss a contract extension with Kenneth Faried in the offseason.

"We'll talk to his representation," Tim Connelly said. " I think Kenneth is happy here. I think he's really embraced what (Coach) Brian (Shaw) is trying to instill. Those are the type of guys that deserve to get paid."

Faried is coming off his best NBA season, with career-best averages of 13.7 points and 8.6 rebounds while shooting 54.5 percent from the field.

Shaw said after the season that he expected Faried to return. Faried was subject to trade speculation during the regular season.

4 years 32 million is a fair deal for him.

8 figures a year is too much for a guy that has no grasp of defense or any real credible/consistent jump shot at the 4 position.

He'd be a fool to stay in Denver. They have been disloyal to him trying to trade him, not extending him and treating him like crap and blaming him as a scapegoat. Foolish for Ken Faried to stay in Denver.

No one ever blamed Faried for our ****** year. Disloyal would be more like what Boston did to Pierce. Also Denver hasn't even gotten the chance to extend him yet, they get their first crack this summer and as you clearly read (hopefully), they wan't him back.

I agree with this statement 100%. wherever he goes; he needs to develop his midrange game and learn to play defense.
I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying.

Haven't they been "aggressive" in trying to trade him? What has changed since the end of regular season up until now?

I wonder what was on the table this year for Faried? All I've heard is Shumpert...

I would be really interested in seeing who wants to high-ball the Nuggets and snatch him up as an RFA... It will be a bad deal for Denver if they lose him, even if they dodge a huge contract in the process (Faried has a diverse skill set and could eventually become a Paul Millsap kind of player).

Even that is probably too much. That's what Taj Gibson got, and his overall game is better than Faried's. I'm thinking more like 4 years, 28 million.
