Mario Mandzukic has been left of Bayern Munich's squad for Saturday DFB-Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund and his career with the German club is now over.
"He is capable of playing, but that is my decision [to leave him out]. That's all," said Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola bid farewell to the attacker on Thursday.
Mandzukic is already on his way to Croatia to begin training for the World Cup.
"I wish you success at your new club," Guardiola was reported to have said.
Mandzukic is under contract with Bayern until 2016, but he will be sold to make way for Robert Lewandowski.
