NO-IND

Post#1 » by lordjeff05 » Sat May 31, 2014 5:55 am

Ok, I have 2 different versions of essentially the same trade. Interested to hear thoughts on this also some folks may hate it. This is another Holiday trade which is a little weird as I actually like Holiday alot for the Pels.

IND trades Hibbert
NO trades Holiday

Indiana needs a better PG. They get a pg who is as good defensively as Hill but who is a better facilitator and a better 3 point shooter. They could either sign and trade Lance for a C and keep Hill at the 2 or they could roll the dice with Mahinmi at the 5/ try to pick up some one in free agency. Both Jrue and George Hill can guard the 2. I don't see the possibility of flipping Hill for a C but maybe I am wrong.

New Orleans keeps Reke at his preferred position. They'd go with a 3 man rotation at PF, C. This might be ideal for Hibbert because it means he isn't as necessary on the offensive side which is good due to his consistency issues. I'd be fine with fewer points and more efficiency from him, which might be possible with the attention Davis and Reke will receive. NOLA picks up a 3 and D guy to play small forward.

Option 2:
IND trades Hibbert, Hill
NO trades Holiday, Gordon

This move would require Indy to sign and trade Stephenson for a Center. Still they get a big offensive upgrade. For whatever bad press he receives, Gordon is a better scorer than Stephenson. Jrue is a better scorer than Hill. Both could space the floor for George and West in a way that Hill and Lance can't. Gordon is also an Indy guy. The question becomes if the drop in D will be worth the uptick in O. As I said Jrue is as good a defender as Hill. I can't say the same for EG vs. Lance and Hibbert vs. Free Agent X. It is a roll of the dice.

For NOLA, though the length of his contract and his issues from 3 are concerning, Hill may be a better backcourt partner to Gordon due to his D. He is also a high character guy.

As a Pacer fan, I have to say, I have no idea why NO would trade Holiday for Hibbert :o

I could see Gordon for Hibbert potentially if Lance walks

Gordon for Hibbert is actually intriguing. Davis operates a lot in high post. My problem for Pels is that Roy slows them down a lot and they should be a fast pace team with Davis.
