also in no order, Daniels, Brown, McGinnis, and Miller are easy. I think Freddie Lewis was an overlooked star of the ABA teams but Don Buse and Mark Jackson were probably the top two point guards. Dale Davis would probably be my second 4 with Smits my second 5. Derek McKey belongs in the mix at 3. with only one to go I suppose it is JO although Billy Knight and Danny Roundfield get votes from the old timers committee.

Clark Kellogg despite an injury shortened career deserves mention. I think I'm right in saying he had more 20/20 games than any other Pacer.

Dale Davis is one of my favorites. He allowed Miller and Smits to become the players they were by protecting them like a mother would an infant. Miller even mentioned him in his speech. DD's gaze alone made grown men cower, and it had absolutely nothing to do with basketball. Technically speaking he was not very good.

I agree on Dale Davis 100%; He was the enforcer. A lot of lists have Mark Jackson; I didnt think of him; but i would say he deserves a spot on my list more than Fleming. George McGinnis deserves a spot as well. Guess thats whats makes it difficult to choose 10 players. It also leaves out many great coaches who definitely have had as much impact or more such as....

Carlisle

I thought of putting Dale Davis in, but I didn't. Certainly a strong case for him though.

I'd put him well behind Billy Knight, Jalen Rose, Danny Granger, Paul George ... give me time and I'll come up with 10 names at his position alone who were better. besides my image of Jackson will always be him shadow boxing on the court at Detroit prolonging the brawl.

That name is taboo around here son. lol Just joking Jack was a heck of wing but did leave a nasty taste in everyones mouth with the brawl incident; and then the night club incident. Him and Artest couldve delivered a championship to Indy but ultimately gave everyone something to be ashamed of. Im hoping that the team will allow Jermaine O'Neal to retire a pacer one day.

My list was based on favorite Pacers. If I went top 10 players I'd go:

1. Paul George - Most talented Pacer of all time.
2. Reggie Miller - Most important NBA Pacer of all time.
3. Mel Daniels - Most important ABA Pacer of all time.
4. George McGinnis - MVP, champion, but not good later on.
5. Roger Brown - Retired Jersey.
6. Billy Knight - Amazing player but cooled off later on.
7. Jermaine O'Neal - Great defender but inefficient offensively, bad passer, and fragile later on.
8. Freddie Lewis - Great scoring guard.
9. Mark Jackson - Great passing guard.
10. Clark Kellogg - Amazing before injuries.

Honorable mentions to guys like Smits, Buse, Dale Davis, Jalen, Fleming, Feisty, etc.

I liked Jon Bender a lot. Too bad his knees couldn't hold up.

I see there are a lot of young 'uns posting on this board.

Anyone that had the privilege to see The Raja in his prime or even see film of him, has to put him at number one. The guy still holds the record for most points in a playoff game with 54. And when Bob Leonard says he would put Brown, in his prime, up against anyone, including Jordan, James, Bird, Dr. J and anyone else you can think of, that says a lot.

Here is my list:

Roger Brown
Mel Daniels
Reggie Miller
George McGinnis
Freddie Lewis
Billy Knight

Now it starts getting tough, the final four are:

Dale Davis
Bob Netolicky
Don Buse
Herb Williams

The first 6 absolutely positively should be on any list. The last 4 are debatable. While he is not on the list yet, I fully expect Paul George to enter the list in the next couple of years.
