Shane Battier set to retire after NBA Finals

Post#1 » by WD » Mon Jun 2, 2014 7:21 pm

Shane Battier set to retire after NBA Finals, will join ESPN as college analyst

Shane Battier has said that his retirement from the NBA was looming.

Now, days before Battier and the Miami Heat are set to take on the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals, it seems all but official that these will be Battier’s last games as a player.

Well deserved!

He's going to make a great analyst.

Don't like the fact he's negotiating a post retirement contract during the finals...no wonder he has been off these playoffs. He checked out

I doubt the negotiating is going on now. No way he has time. I think he is all in, and ready if we need him. That's how this team runs.

Yeah he's the man he's calm down so much from his earlier days. He definitely needs to go out with three rings

:(

I will never forget 2012 OKC and 2013 SA G7. Hopefully he adds one more to that collection this upcoming series.

I hope so too. He's too professional to let that distract him. All the players have business interests off the court. This one's no different. Despite my feelings about this series, I really hope he does retire with three rings.

He is retiring and I know he will use all the energy he has left to give

I came here to do two things: get lost and slice **** up & I'm all out of directions.

sad because i was kinda hoping he would take a assistant coaching position with us at some point. Battier is one of the guys I think that will still be affecting the NBA after player retirement.
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

I wanted him to stick around on the team like Juwan Howard and just be a positive force in the locker room. I'm sure he'll do great in whatever seeks. Hopefully he finds his way back to the Heat in the future.

I don't think the slump has anything to do with him looking toward the next phase of his life. Wish him all the best as he moves forward and hope we can send him out like the winner he is.
