Clips should hire Sheed to be an assistant

Sadly, SVG decided to cut loose Sheed as an assistant in Detroit. I think he'd make a great addition on the bench for the Clips. He could teach DJ and Blake some more post moves and how to play better post defense. He has a very smart basketball mind. The Clips should bring him in, especially if they lose an assistant or two (I've heard Gentry and Lue are interviewing for jobs)

I'd heard once a while ago that the smartest player on those pistons teams wasn't billups, prince, or hamilton: it was sheed. I'd be all for it.

Flip Saunders stated that there was a practice drill in which each player had to know where all of the other players on the court were supposed to go and only Sheed got every drill correct. Yes, his basketball IQ is very high. Unfortunately, he didn't always use it. He should have posted up on the block far more frequently than he did. It still mystifies me to this day as to why he didn't. Perhaps it was more of a curse than a blessing that he could shoot the 3 ball.

He's worth it for the celebration gifs alone.

If Lue gets a HC job somewhere, I'd love for us to go after Cassell too.

Cassell is staying in Washington until he gets a HC job. Wall & Beal have both grown under Cassell and it is their defense and positioning that have really impressed me, Watch out for the Wiz.
As for Sheed, don't like him, too much of a prima dona and an individual than a team member. I always thought the 2 BIGGEST underachievers in the 90-00's were Sheed & Spreewell and my view most likely can't be changed. I don't like Lue on on our bench, i think he is a terrible coach (Defensive responsibility, really?) and hope like heck he leaves. I would rather go for a low key former player like Kurt Thomas to really help our Bigs w/ positioning.

how about Derrick Coleman and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf aka Chris Jackson? both from the same draft in 1990, went #1 and #3 overall. Rasheed was a fourth, lived up to what a 4th overall pick should, and Spree was 24th and was never expected to be more than a starter at best, I say Spree overachieved in that regard.

My personal opinion was I thought that both Spree & Sheed should have be great, Jackson was ok for some years until injuries & Coleman was never serious enough.
Obviously you are a big Sheed fan, so you know his good points a lot more than I do. I think he is a straight up a$$, but if you think he can help coach our team then he deserves a look, There are so many talented former players wanting to coach, maybe this is something Sheed does for others unconditionally.
I know I would take anyone w/ a pulse over Lue

no I think you are thinking of Roscoe Sheed who started this thread rather than me. I was just saying that between 90s to 2000 there were bigger disappointments than Sheed and Spree. I do agree with you that Sheed did come off as an ass. but his ex teammates all say he isn't anything like how he behaved on TV mostly against refs in real life.

I personally am disappointed in Bo Kimble and Michael Olowakandi the most in that time span......

The positive aspects about Sheed that would make him a good assistant for the Clips are that he has a very high degree of knowledge regarding post offense and defense. Tim Duncan has admitted that he was one of the most difficult match ups he ever faced in terms of a two-way threat.

He helped Drummond this past season with Detroit and would probably help Jordan as well on both ends. He would also help Griffin, but Blake doesn't really need much help because he has really grown as a player.

Also, as an assistant last season he really didn't get into it much with the refs. He seemed to keep a fairly level head on the sidelines.
