Javier Mascherano has signed an extension with Barcelona through 2018.
Mascherano received strong interest from Napoli and it looked the center back wouldn't have a place moving forward with Barça.
Following the final match of the season against Atletico Madrid, Mascherano stated that “some of the players will be leaving this summer,” implying that he was one of the names on that list of departures, but according to the report, the arrival of Luis Enrique and the assurance that ‘Masch’ will be converted back to his original defensive midfield position have convinced the former Liverpool star to stay.
