Lebron, Melo and the Suns Fanbase

Post#1 » by Flying Colors » Sun Jun 29, 2014 9:48 pm

I know its probably not going to happen (if both of these guys cared about winning it should), but lets imagine how it would affect the suns fanbase. We'd most likely pick up all the vagrant lebron fans, then we'd grab the melo vagrant fans, then pick up the fair weather suns fans who jumped ship after 2010, then a new crop of bandwagons fans, the suns sub forum, which is already be pretty active, would get a huge raise in subscribers.

For the most part, we are still a pretty respected team, riding high on our unexpected run last year. Do you think we'd suddenly turn into the next heat fans? despised by the rest of realgm for example? Or do you think that the "good will" suns have gathered through the years could be enough to diminish that

RealGM should just make a Lebron board for his following. But this board would be be nuts during the season I'm sure. Merging 3 very active followings together.

I've said it countless times, I would welcome Lebron with open arms but I would never buy his jersey, shoes, etc. Anything that supports just him.

And that goes double for Melo.
I like Draft Picks/Cap Space, long walks on the beach, and short youtube clips.

As much as the LBJ and Melo fanboys would be annoying, I'd be more than happy to deal with them on the board since it'd mean the Suns miraculously landed 2 major stars

Lol you wouldn't buy a Lebron jersey mikefly3113?

I think when Lebron is throwing down alley oops from Bledsoe and Dragic you'll be pretty inclined to buy them.

Let's not kid ourselves here

This would be literally the best day of most of our sports fan hood lives for native people from Phoenix if this happened.

I'd welcome any player that can help Dragic and Hornacek lead our organization, our fans, and our city win a championship.

Even Lebron.

I don't care what kind of fans jump on board. I know I'm a die hard Suns fan to the bone, and anything at all that helps get them a ring is fine by me.

I assume this is in response to the wiretap heading above: You have to love McD. He is going all out for it. If you are going to fail, give it everything you got when going for it.

I'd say it's actually quite biased to assume that our fanbase is very different from the rest of the other teams, behaviorally speaking. Statistically, that is unlikely. I'd say people may find us less annoying or even respectable because nobody actually cares or reads our forums (do you read, say, the Cavs forum, for example?). At the moment we start winning and crushing others people's dreams, our behavior should become a little closer to that of the Heat fans (everybody likes to boast a bit), while other fans probably will start disliking us more because we are, well, destroying their dreams.

If the Bulls can't get either of these guys, I'm rooting for the Suns to get either or possibly both. McDonough has done a tremendous job in just one year. I'm surprised there hasn't been anything coming from either camp about Arizona. Other than being in the west, it actually would make a lot of sense.

I just don't think all the Suns fans in the world deserve all this.

Anthony is not even going to meet with Phoenix.
Neither is LeBron, he is actually not meeting with anybody, only the Heat.

And if both want to win, they will stay in the East, and they probably will.

On the off chance he does sign with us, we should then make a separate forum for us original Suns fans - invites only!

Plans can change. Also we could be keeping our meetings under wraps.

If melo isn't joining the heat he has better opportunity in west even it's loaded because he's not surpassing Lebron and whatever cap they are trying to make.

Houston and PHX become contenders with him added.
I would make a educated guess if melo was on board PHX would push hard for love as well

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.
