Any player that will be significant we will have to either trade for or make cap space to to sign him.

Re: How much cap space does we have left
Looking here: http://www.basketballinsiders.com/detro ... am-salary/
The projected salary cap is apparently approximately 63.2 million this year. We have just under 38 million (37.9something) in salaries for next season. Equalling to 25.2m. You add on Monroes cap hold of 10.2million and its down to 15mil before any other signings.
That figure includes mitchell's 816k, but not siva who could earn the same amount. I'm pretty sure mitchells money is still unguarenteed and we could save an extra bit there if we wanted.
We also should have a Mid-Level Exception for 2.73mil (because we are under the cap, whereas it would be 5.3mil if we were over)
No one has actually signed yet, but Meeks will probably count as about 6mil in the first year with some raises, leaving 9mil left over. (possibly more)
Dinwiddie will need to sign for about 800-900k, and then martin and gray, who we dont have the details on how much they are owed, i think dinwiddie can be signed even after the cap space has been used up, as his money is not only unguarenteed, but has no cap hold (i think).
This is where the Gray and Martin contracts are interesting. If they are the veterans minimum -> which i sure hope they are based on their ability, and is possible due to the fact they are one of the few deals were actual amounts were not disclosed. -> then they could be signed after the remaining space is used because minimum contracts work as an exception. However, if they are not the vet min, then that could take possibly 4 mil out of that 9 mil figure from before.
There is still room to sign another rotation player, although the way stan has been operating this offseason, that doesnt seem too likely at this point.

Re: How much cap space does we have left
We had approximately 13.5 to work with on July 1st according to the Freepress, 6.5 of that went to Meeks so we have 7million left if the Meeks/Gray minimum signings occur at the end of offseason.
With the FA market the way that it is, that is not enough money to sign anything more than a bench player.

Re: How much cap space does we have left
But it is enough cap space to work in trades. We could send out a player with a salary of 13 mil for 2 players making 8 or 9 mil a yr.

"Kilo" posted in the FA thread that SVG recently stated we still have over $8 million to play with.
- Martin and Gray are both getting vet min deals and will sign after we spend the remaining cap space

Re: How much cap space does we have left
I would trade datome and 2 2nd round picks for one 2nd round pick to free up more space. Thats how desperate I am for us to get him off this team!

Why? What harm has he ever caused to the team?

Re: How much cap space does we have left
You would give up assets to get rid of the $4.5m owed to Jerebko before you get rid of the $1.75m to Datome.
Also, the Jodie Meeks deal was 3 years/ $19mil reportedly. That averages to $6.3m per year. Stop saying it's going to be $6.5m off the cap this year. Except for rare occurances where teams plan on having better cap space situations in future years rather than earlier on (something thats not going to be the case with us -> this is our last chance with cap space for a while unless we dump someone for expirings) -> most contracts are going to operate in raises. This means that its going to be less than $6.3m in year 1, and likely below $6m.
If you want exact figures, here they are:
2014/15 Salary Cap: $63,065,000
- Guaranteed contracts: $37,913,230
= Cap Space: $25,151,770
- Monroe's Cap Hold: 10,216,135
= $14,935,635
- Jodie Meeks, which as a standard ascending contract would be: $5,864,198 (via http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-contrac ... 00&years=3 )
= Remaining: $9,071,437

ah, that makes more sense. theres a chance that could be a flat deal for 6.5 each too since its an even number, but i doubt it since you want as much space this year as possible as matching/signing monroe will put you over the cap not only this year, but for the next few.
If it is ascending for 19.5mil, then it would be $6,018,519 in the first year.
This would make it: $14,935,635 - $6,018,519
= $8,917,116

He does 0 for our team. If his contract is what's stopping us from getting a guy like Isaiah Thomas then I will do whatever it takes to get him off the roster, especially after the Cartier Martin signing.

What % raises are you giving Meeks?

Re: How much cap space does we have left
I think since he wasn't with us last season, we can only give so much % as a raise per season. Lakers could give the highest % raises as he was a Laker last season, correct?
So 3/19 with smaller raise percentages would start his beginning salary.

He didn't mention Dinwiddie but he can be signed the same way as Martin and Gray.
Committed salary for 2014/15: $51,413,230 (view full forecast)
Remaining cap space: $1,935,635
The Pistons have signed three players - Jodie Meeks, D.J. Augustin and Caron Butler - which has been pretty much the end of their cap space. They still have agreements to fulfil with Aaron Gray and Cartier Martin, but the minimum salary and room exception ought cover it. Greg Monroe's cap hold is the culprit here, and that's not going to change.

Or we don't have to sign him at all. We can hold onto his rights while he recovers from injury.
