Is Jason Williams one of the most underrated PG's ever?

Post#1 » by VC-INJURY » Thu Aug 7, 2014 2:06 pm

I used to love watching J-Will when he first came into the league and have always thought he was one of the best pure ball handlers and passers to ever play in the NBA.

Despite his brief popularity, his name rarely comes up when discussing great PG's in NBA history.

Although people will point to his poor advanced stats, low scoring averages and high turnovers, the way he played the game early in his career made him an incredibly unique player in NBA history.

For a position that requires superior passing and dribbling, he's surely deserving of a top nod in those categories. Does J-Will deserve a mention when discussing top PG's in NBA history?

Yeah he can handle the ball but top PG in NBA history? That is absurd. He was an average NBA player at best.

Really sums up jason Williams

Fast break, Flashy move, Could either pass it to Dirk Nowitzki or Paul Pearce, Insted passes to Raef LaFrentz , Jason williams, decent player, Very flashy, No substance

He was a really fun player to watch when he was on the kings and you can tell Webber and the rest of the guys loved his passes and liked playing with him. But he took ill advised 3's when he was younger and did not control the flow of the game when playoffs time came around. He was a better game manager when he won in Miami but he stopped trying to do his highlight passes.

Or it's an all star/exhibition game and he just wanted to an elbow pass and Raef LaFrentz just happened to be in the way. Pretty sure he would've passed it to Kendrick Perkins if he was standing there too.

No. He may be my favorite player to watch, but he was an average point guard really.

Rated exactly what he was. A decent PG, but more flash than substance.

However was one of my favourite players growing up, I had his jersey and spent HOURS in my yard trying to perfect the faked round the back pass layup.

No. I would say that Lafeyette Lever is. He went 4 straight years of averaging no less than 8.1 rebounds and 18 points.

And, thread. The NBA is not an And 1 mix tape. It's about winning. Notice the jump the Kings took after trading him.

You mean overrated! He was a flashy point guard who lacked control. Once the Kings traded him away and got Mike Bibby, the kings became contenders and with J Will they were just pretenders.

Good to watch but as a PG, your job is to find the best men not having them guess where the ball are going.

One of my favorite players to watch back in the day, some incredible ball handling and passing skills

He'll go down as one of the most entertaining and crowd pleasing PG's in the game. One of the greatest ever? Not really

:-? They won 55 games in his last season there and lost in the second round to a Lakers team that was in the zone. They went to the WCF in 2002 with Bibby but never got out of the second round after that. I don't think the Kings got that much better with Bibby.
