KD Pulls Out of FIBA Games

Post#1 » by bondom34 » Thu Aug 7, 2014 10:39 pm

Well, I would have loved to see him, but I'm a little relieved to be honest. I was worried he'd be tired going into the season, hope everything's OK. Odd, but if he stays healthy, fine by me.

I think forming a relationship with PG probably made this hit a little closer for him. I hope we'll limit his minutes and Russ can stay healthy all season so we can go into next playoffs healthy and firing on all cylinders.

You, his agent and everyone in the Thunder organization are relieved. It's a big blow to our chances at the games, but it's obviously the safest thing for him to do.

Good for the Thunder bad for team USA. It's kind of weird not havering a Thunder player on the roster.

Im so glad he did this. The dude needs a rest. He has proven himself and now simply needs to be focused on his regular and post season mental and physical health.

As a side note i think this is a positive thing for Team USA.
IMO the olympic games should consist of the following mix:

7 players in their rookie contract (1-4, 5th+ext. do not count).
4 D-League players.
4 Anyone contracts/experience.

This mix does a few things.

Gives younger players much needed experience while keeping the high level of talent the Team USA's are known for.

Gives D-League players a chance to shine on the big screen and be taken notice of by international teams and other NBA teams. Not that they dont already see these things, but sometimes these dleaguers can surprise you when put in real game situations against real talent.

And of course the 4 "vets" limit and challenge the younger players and dleaguers more then if the team had 10.

I'd like to go back to all college players. Not feasible? Probably not, doesn't mean I can't prefer it though.

He should relax and spend the off season playing poker like Westbrook is.

Why do USA does not give their full effort at Any non-Olympic tournaments?
Why in hell would you go again on colleage players and be dominated by Euopeans?

Because I couldn't care less about the international tournaments. Because The NBA is the best league in the world by such a huge margin it doesn't need to be proven at the Olympics or any other tournament. Because Other countries very best players, by and large, come play in the NBA. Because I'm sick of seeing Lebron, Kobe, KD, etc worn down playing 100 games each season then going and competing in international competition and coming back even more rundown. Because I don't want to see Paul George on the sideline in a suit. Because the international game is completely different from the NBA game. Because I like watching amateurs competing. Because there was a time when the Olympics meant something. Because a country can pay a player 20 million dollars to get citizenship in their country just to play for them. Because there's no integrity anymore.

I get the NBA is the best league argument, but an injury can happen training in LA or in a match in Rucker, not only in international games.
I always love to see good basketball and you usually need good players to see that. I'd love the All-Star to be a "USA" vs "Rest of the World" or some kind of, and in the international tournaments you can see kinda the same, with FIBA rules.
I don't get why US people care so much about the Soccer World Cup a month ago and now don't give a fck about the basketball one. They're the best, obviously, but playing in Spain against such a good team (Gasols and Ibaka are a better frontcourt than any NBA team) would be difficult for them. And now they're sending a B or C team. I just don't get it.
P.S: If you hadn't get it, I'm Spanish
