Tottenham is close to a €3.5 million deal with the Seattle Sounders for right-back DeAndre Yedlin.
The 21-year-old speedster impressed in his three appearances at the World Cup, where he played under former Spurs frontman and United States boss Jurgen Klinsmann.
Yedlin is expected to join Tottenham in January.
Roma had been considered favourites for his signature but Spurs are now poised to secure the transfer.
