None of the pitching match-ups look good, and after the Tigers bent over for the Yankees , it would make sense that they sweep the Jays to balance it out.

Anything aside from a sweep will be a pleasant and much needed bonus.

At least only one lefty this series and the Tigers lack of a bullpen hopefully plays in blah blah blah.

Adam Lind goes 2 for 2 yesterday. Then ...wait for it....

Leaves game today with back tightness.

Edit: He didn't even start the game. This is a rumor right now but I guess it's possible he was called up.

Detroit is a perfect example of how judging a team based on their starting rotation can be misleading, they're an exceedingly ordinary team, that's what their record and run differential suggests especially given the fact that they play in the worst division in Baseball.

However we are unlucky to not be facing their worst starter Verlander but don't get carried away by the pitching matchups, they only tell you a part of the story.

Valencia probably shouldn't be playing tonight.

I thought the whole point in trading for him was to only face LHP anyways?

gibby's a fine in-game tactician and everything and doesn't make inexplicable decisions with PH and his bullpen much like other managers, but good **** lord, is damn near 900 PA's not enough evidence yet?

It's a good thing Melky is back tonight. We desperately need him with all the other injuries we've suffered.

Hoping we can at least get 2 of 3. At least we don't have to deal with winneryness in **** Baltimore anymore.

Juan Francisco only has 143 plate appearances against LHP, but Gibby is smart enough not to let Fat Juan go near them.

This is either an AA decision (i.e. play the guy I got at the deadline) or Gibby is throwing as much **** at the wall hoping something sticks. I'm going with the former, because Gose is playing everyday against RHP despite Reimold being a better option (at DH, with the regular 3 OF's), so it's possible Alex or someone else in the organization is in his ear.

Only explanation is that Valencia is our future 3B, and Gose is our future CF. Because otherwise, it makes no sense.

Do not like Navarro and Thole in the same lineup. Gibby clearly isn't too enamoured with Reimold, who seems like a pretty solid option.

Very winnery inning here. Multiple soft singles, bunts (including a suicide squeeze!), inexplicable opponent errors...this is the stuff of champions.
