Josh Gordon's suspension

Post#1 » by jbk1234 » Wed Aug 27, 2014 10:03 pm

I don't know how to do a poll. I feel very strongly that the NFL dropped the ball on this one. Thoughts?

half a dozen failed tests if you include college(and college does count as a prior) plus drunk driving and possession charge. he is in no position to blame nfl here.

before anybody brings up ray rice, nfl obviously dropped the ball on that one. they don't have to make the same mistake twice.

Ya, I think the NFL did the right thing here, but they definitely need to modernize the rules. Rice deserves just as much of a punishment, if not more.

Ehh if it's actually weed who cares.....I believe the nfl uses drugs/alcohol as a cover for their major PED suspensions.

Players are more likely to avoid drugs, but also more likely to use violence outside of the sport since the NFL doesn't punish people for it. I expected a year, but this goes into next year's pre-season as well. They should have made a decision much earlier than this rather than waiting. This makes me want to watch more basketball and less football as a Browns fan. Part of me would rather watch soccer than football at this point.

I was coming into this thread expecting more of what i've been hearing on espn, but 2 people said what I've been thinking the whole time, stop comparing the two things. Gordon deserved what he got, Rice deserved more. Also, now that Gordon came out with the whole "the nfl should have shown better discretion" comment, I wonder if he should have been fined or something on top of it.

It was a false positive and arbitrary test. He tested well enough to fly a **** airplane but too high to play in the NFL. Its a joke.

Just a thought here...I know the NFL talks about how these guys are role models and what not...but I would much rather my son be a stoner than a wife beater...I don't think Gordon should have received a year long ban..Instead of the NFL airing everyone out to ESPN and the media they need to keep these issues under wraps..and just take away game checks for failing a drug test..you mess with a dudes money he will quickly learn...and don't even get me started on aldon smith and goodell dropping the ball on that situation.....

Daryl Washington was giving the same sentence a one year ban and he hasn't gripped about it.
And Washington IMO is a better player.

He takes cardinals from playoff contenders to maybe a down yr

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.
