Do you consider Jerry West a PG or a SG?

Almost 99% of Top 10 SG lists will have Jerry West on them as opposed to 1% of Top 10 PG lists will have Jerry West.

Basketballreference has Jerry West has a PG however 11 out of his 13 year career.

It's obvious that he was a combo guard and just played the "Guard" position but if you had to label him a position what would it be?

Point guard. He was primarily an on-ball player, the primary ballhandler of his teams. In the modern era, guys like Iverson, Arenas, Rose, Westbrook are similar - score first point guard is what I would call Jerry West (and it's not a bad thing, because even though he was "score first", he wasn't a selfish player, actually excelled as an orchestrator in the early 70s, even averaged almost 10 assists per game in both 1971 and 1972 - he was just an amazing scorer, that's the strongest part of his game, so he did that more often, instead of trying to be a "true" PG like Stockton or Nash).

Can go either way really. In his era probably more of a PG. Nowadays it doesn't matter.
