If Adams was traded for Bogut would OKC win title?
Adams has amazing potential and could oneday become a good player in this league. If Adams was traded for Bogut, assuming everyone on the team remained healthy, what are the chances that OKC would win a the championship this season?

OKC would be worse with Bogut compared to Adams. Bogut hasn't played in 70 games in six years! So you are basically asking would 50 games of Bogut be worth more than a full season and the playoffs of Adams. The answer is no. On top of that Adams will be better than Bogut on a per minute basis this year even if Bogut manages to stay healthy.

Bogut might be the best defensive center in the NBA. Certainly has an argument. Health is a factor, but this would be a stupid thing not to do if it was on the table. 50 games from Bogut and health during the postseason would increase OKC's title chances.

I'm pretty sure he has sat in street clothes in more postseason games than he has played in. The Warriors really missed him in the playoffs last year.

For sure. I think it may be worth the risk. But it is a risk.

Re: If Adams was traded for Bogut would OKC win title?
I see no upside in trading a 21 year old Adams who is already a force in the paint for a player with a long injury history that is only 18 days younger than Perkins. Throw in the salary difference where Bogut will be taking up $11M of cap space when the Thunder need to re-sign KD and while you might not cost yourself KD you are costing yourself Reggie and any chance of a long-term center in Adams.
I'd rather have 7 years of Adams than three years of Bogut. Throw in the financial effects and the injury history of Bogut and there is no way that you can make a case that the Thunder increase their chances of winning in any of the next three years with Bogut. That would be like saying that they should trade Russ for D-Wade, because Wade is better if he is healthy and we ignore that his best days are likely behind him due to age.

As a GS fan, I agree with multiple posts in this thread.
1) You shouldn't trade a 21 year old Adams for Bogut.
2) You would have a greater chance of winning the title this year if you had a healthy Bogut in the playoffs instead of Adams.
Both are true.

Probably not an accurate claim. The STATEMENT says Bogut averaged 12 games a year for 6 years? That's false. That would make him the most costly player EVER in the NBA. 12 games a year? That won't get OKC or GSW through the damn PLAYOFFS. Were it a FACT.

The "deal" is technically NOT viable. OKC can not add the salary. GSW is 21-3.. will NOT agree to send a key guy to a West rival. May as well discusss having a time machine and Prime Wilt Chamberlain.

All the Thunder would need is ONE year where Bogut is mostly okay..and is solid in the playoffs. Winning the whole enchilada is a big deal. It is ALL Hypothetical. That's no deal that can work and GSW would reject it.. even if OKC agreed.

Bogut is done.
He can't stay healthy for a one month, much less a season.

I do not see them trading Bogut for Adams... even were it at all possible. Bogut.. has a knack for a variety of odd injuries.. BUT... he's >>>Adams when okay. GSW likes Bogut a lot.
rem, read again. It says he missed 70 games in 6 yrs. Also, this is a 2 month old thread.

I don't think Bogut is done. You have to always expect him to miss a lot of games. But when he plays, he's the real deal. He's a big reason for GSWs hot start.

That's nice and all, but realistically the chance that he is going to be a difference maker in the playoffs is closer to 0 than 100. Even if he makes it to the playoffs, he then will be banging with a big western conference nightly and have to play bigger minutes. In short, when a guy is about as reliable as derrick Rose it's fool-hardy to bet on him.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

This injury he has now is chronic. There's no cure for tendonitus except rest and even then, it reoccurs easily.
And I really enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn Express last night.

Re: If Adams was traded for Bogut would OKC win title?
It's kind of hypothetical since there's a $ gap. When healthy.. Bogut is certainly better but I doubt OKC would want to gamble on Bogut's health....even assuming GSW would make such a deal.Kizz Fastfists wrote:I see no upside in trading a 21 year old Adams who is already a force in the paint for a player with a long injury history that is only 18 days younger than Perkins. Steve's intangibles are off the charts. Bogut is well over his peak. Stupid swap, IMO.

Only 1 of these players could help OKC to a title this year , and he currently plays for the top team.
The other kid has a long way to go but who knows how he will pan out.

Nobody thinks Bogut is a worse player, but nobody is willing to bet on his health either.
