Manchester City has ramped up their pursuit of Ross Barkley of Everton, believing a €50.75 million offer could beat out Chelsea.
Manuel Pellegrini had Barkley scouted on his return to the Toffees' first team during the recent 3-0 win over Aston Villa.
Barkley signed a new four-year contract with Everton in July.
City likes the upside of Barkley, plus he would help boost their 'homegrown' quota.
