One of the few West Coast games we should all be able to stay up for.

I will be interested to see if "Laker Fan" will be true to form and make overtures to Marc Gasol, hoping he will sign there in 2015?

This should not be a close game. Give Z-Bo and Marc some rest at the end of the game folks.

He could. Then again, any Lakers fans in general are likely to press for anyone good to come to Los Angeles, by offseason next summer. Some of them need to accept the fact that rebuilding is the way to go and it will take at least 3 to 5 years given the current state of their management.

Breakdowns early on the interior. Looks promising right now.

Not shooting the ball well right now. They are getting to the line, but right now the Lakers got control so far in the second quarter.

So far the Grizz are hanging tough. Need to stop allowing the easy baskets to be a factor for the Lakers.

Just wondering. I'm a Raptor fan but I've been reading that board since 2011. I was a fan of the Raptors and Vancouver Grizzlies as a kid because of the cool logos and names

Both these teams have come a long way from 20 years ago.

Grizzlies ain't on point right now. Bad passes, TOs' , lack of execution on both ends. This is not the way to play against a sorry team like the Lakers.

Yep, no doubt. The way the Raptors have risen, it reminds me of how the Grizzlies became so good. Casey is criticized a lot much like Hollins was. Both are tough, defensive minded coaches.

A lot of Grizzlies fans hated Hollins and didn't like how he was developing Conley, similar to how Raptor fans feel about JV. I see a lot of similarities. Both the Raptors and Grizzlies don't have any superstars and both teams/fanbases don't get the recognition they deserve.

There are some similarlies between the two. Hollins, when he was here demanded his players to play consistently. He would encourage them and would get on them if they make unnecessary mistakes. Same thing he's doing for Brooklyn now in spite of the mess they call a roster.

As for Hollins developing Conley, I believe that was a collective agreement between Grizz management and Hollins at the time. When Conley was drafted by the Grizzlies in 2007, I had my doubts on Conley big time and didn't see any chance on him succeeding in the league. When the Grizzlies had Kyle Lowry, I thought he was the better player with his aggressiveness and willing to attack the defender and get to the line. Something Conley lacked at the time. Fast forward to 7yrs later, I guess I was wrong. Conley did himself and the Grizzlies justice by becoming the player they envision he would become.

As for Vancouver getting a basketball team back, don't hold your breath.

It ended up working out great for both of us. You guys got Conley, we got Lowry. Conley, much like Lowry is a late bloomer.

What are your thoughts on the Grizzlies chances this season? Do you think they're a legitimate title contender?

Not to sound arrogant, I think their chances are around 65% to get in. San Antonio has been the team that have owned the Grizzlies number in the regular season and the playoffs from two years ago now. The Grizzlies need to trade for a scorer to come off the bench and a solidified SF who can play on both ends of the floor. If the Grizzlies can do that, I say they improve their chances.

How about the Raptors chances?

I think the Raptors and the Grizzlies are in the same situation. Both teams are ECF/WCF contenders but not title contenders.

With the Grizzlies, being in the west doesn't help but I also don't trust the offense. I think the Grizzlies with homecourt advantage could beat the Warriors, Clippers, Rockets and Portland, no problem.

You guys matchup great with OKC and you guys have never had homecourt advantage against them so it comes down to talent vs experience/coaching.

Mavs and the Spurs are the 2 tough matchups for the Grizz. Spurs like you said have your number (I think they repeat, they're just a tier above everyone else imo) and the Mavs have Carlisle and a potent offense. He'll make it miserable for the Grizzlies to score.

Joerger is a great coach. Good tatician. Unlike Hollins, he's shown the ability to adjust and he's done a good job improving the Grizzlies offense from the terrible offense (2nd worst in the league) that it was in 2013. I still remember Prince & Allen starting together. What a spacing nightmare that was.
