Please tell me when we touch bottom

My dad took me to my first Bears game in 1963. The Bears beat the Lions 24-14 to clinch a spot in the NFL Championship game. The Bears went on to win the NFL Championship that season.

I've been a die-hard Bears fan ever since and there have been plenty of lean times, but nothing quite like the parallel universe that Phil Emery and Marc Trestman have dragged us to.

Today I listened to Trestman, Offensive Coordinator Aaron Kromer and QB Jay Cutler all agree that it's OK for Kromer to have vented to Boston Herald NFL reporter Ian Rapoport and throw Cutler under a bus.

Nearly everyone who read Brad Biggs' story immediately agreed that Kromer was a dead man walking. This included not only print, TV and radio media, but also every single former NFL player I heard...every damn one. No one I've heard from other than Trestman, Kromer and Cutler, NO ONE, has even hinted that what Kromer did was anything other than a hanging offense.

All this leads me to the opinion that, at minimum, Trestman and his coaching staff needs to be released at season's end (if not sooner). General Manager Phil Emery's mistake of hiring Trestman could easily also qualify as a hanging offense. In my opinion, if Emery is not openly pushing for Trestman's ouster, he needs to go as well.

If all of these clowns are back next season, I'm intend to view the 2015 Bears season in a light that I've never viewed a new Bears season before.

I intend to ignore it.

Well, I can tell you that if Emery and Co. are here next year, we have not touched bottom yet. It's only going to get worse.

I can only pray that George McCaskey realizes that the same stasis that plagued the Lovie Smith era is setting in again with this group. The GM with no previous GM experience who adopts a coach, then hires his own coach with no previous NFL head coach experience, who then has to take on some assistants picked by the new GM, has to repeatedly fire and reassign assistant coaches to take the blame for a failed season every year, and has to fire offensive coordinators who can't get along with Cutler. It's absolute, dictionary-definition, insanity.
