Boston - Detroit - Portland

Boston trades:

Jeff Green
Gerald Wallace

Boston receives:

Josh Smith
Victor Claver

Josh Smith and Rajon Rondo dream of playing together. This trade solidifies Rondo staying in Boston. I feel Smith would actually be a very good SF for the Celtics as his cutting, rebounding and shot-blocking would be a good compliment to Sullinger and/or Olynck's perimeter oriented games. Lob city East? For Boston I very much view Smith as an asset whereas Wallace is ballast and Green will most likely bolt at the end of the season. Claver would be receptive to a buy-out but is ending anyways.

Detroit trades:

Josh Smith
Cartier Martin

Detroit receives:

2015 1st from Portland - top 10 protected
Gerald Wallace
Myers Leonard
Dorrel Wright
$3.6 million from Portland

Josh Smith hasn't worked out for Detroit and they are clearly a ways from being any good. With this deal they cut their losses and move on and acquire a pick. As part of this deal Gerald Wallace agrees to a buy-out. Wright has an ending contract but could be a short-term good fit for them. Myers Leonard could actually be a very good piece for the Pistons as having a 7'1 PF/C who shoots a high percentage from 3 is a good fit aside either Drummond or Monroe.

Portland trades:

Myers Leonard
Dorrel Wright
Victor Claver
$3.6 million to Detroit
2015 1st to Detroit - top 10 protected

Portland receives:

Jeff Green
Cartier Martin

I feel Jeff Green is the piece Portland needs to become a contending level team as his scoring off the bench would be welcome and his versatility makes it easy to play him in different roles.

I'm a pretty big fan of this idea, but I think Boston actually needs a bit more. I'd say Smith is only marginally more valuable than Wallace with his problems fitting and attitude. But Boston is a good gamble for him.

Green still has pretty decent value, so I think a something else needs to go to Boston.

Nice idea though. Although if Boston wants to move Green this could be done without Detroit.

Not sure what the FO would do, but you won't find many Boston fans on board with adding Smith.

I'd personally rather just resign Green, who has stated he is very happy and content in Boston.

No interest in Smith with this current roster.

Sullinger has done well for Boston. The Deal does suck for Portland. Why on earth would Port devalue a pick by doing top 10 protect?

Did the cash limit go up to $3.6M?

I like this deal. I agree that Boston probably needs slightly more. Detroit gets out from under a mistake sooner. And I have long been proposing how much sense Jeff Green makes for Portland.

Just silly for Boston. Absolutely zero reason to dump Wallace midseason this year instead of the summer. And no reason at all to take on Smith.

Interesting idea for Smith, however, Gerald Wallace is about as bad as smiths contract. It doesn't address our need of a SF, Wallace is the only sf that maybe shoots just as bad as smith. I wouldn't be happy about the trade, but i wouldn't be that upset
