Edit: Woj: A Lance return to the Pacers?
The pacers an the hornets have had talks about a potential Lance return to Indy. Talks haven't gotten very far. I don't know how I would feel about lance returning seemed to ready to jump ship.

Re: Pacers an Hornets
Woj is reporting this.
Sounds like Charlotte has some serious regrets and is just trying to dump him, they won't get much if anything in return. For cheap, I wouldn't mind having him back. Might give Lance a chip on his shoulder and would probably give us a scorer we need to push us to the playoffs.

Re: Edit: Woj: A Lance return to the Pacers?
Have to imagine we wouldn't do it without getting him back dirt cheap; a la our Mark Jackson/Denver deals back in the day (where we dealt Mark to Denver for Jalen and then later that season reacquired Jackson for pennies on the dollar).
Cope/Scola? Apparently, we asked for their 1st to do that, maybe we add a little small value and get back Cody or something else? Would we be able to keep Hibbert, or ship him elsewhere, too? Tough questions.

Re: Edit: Woj: A Lance return to the Pacers?
I'll be shocked if anything happens, but if we can get back one of their prospects or any kind of pick for just expirings with Lance I'd be ecstatic. I'd do just straight up expirings for him with nothing else coming back, but I can get why Bird would want something else. I'm sure he'd basically tell Lance that he'll let him sit at home like Tinsley if he acts up so we'd have to get something as sort of insurance. Plus, why not try and get something else if Cho is shopping him already.

Re: Edit: Woj: A Lance return to the Pacers?
Kind of absurd that people want a first packaged with Lance like he's some sort of ball and chain to the deal. Guess everyone forgot how he played last year where we let him do his thing.
Would definitely love to have him back as long as we aren't giving up West or a 1st.

Bird is asking for a 1st because we're the ones that have the leverage. The Hornets are the ones that started these talks.

Re: Edit: Woj: A Lance return to the Pacers?
About the only trade I'd make would look like:
Miles + Cope for Lance + Neal + 1st
I liked Lance when he was here, I just question what this team's ceiling looks like with him earning $9m for the next two years.

I know we need to do something, but idk. I would really rather not lose Cope, also, and he is likely the first trade piece we have to offer.

West is not getting any younger, or better, or more hard working. Charlotte is desperate. I would try West, Copeland for Lance, Zeller, and Vonleh. Vonleh could be the real steal(other than lance)

He has not fit their system like he did with the Pacers last year, I said at the time that they would have issues with him and Kemba.
Here is what I was thinking 3 way trade Indiana, Char, Boston
Pacers send Miles, Scola, and Copeland to Char for Lance and Cody plus a 2016 or 17 #1 top 10 protected both years becomes a 2nd by 2018.
Pacers send Hibbert to Boston for Olynyk, Young, and Wallace Plus the #1 from the Clippers in 2015 and the Brooklyn #1 in 2016 for the trouble of taking on Wallace and his 2 remaining seasons.
My feeling on this is that Hibbert is gonna Opt out and do we really want to keep him? He's going to be looking for a 5yr contract and $16 million or more per season. He played well up until his ankle injury. I hate taking on Wallace but to make the money work it has to be him or Green it's unlikely they give up Green. Getting the 2 #1 picks and Young and Olynyk would make it less disgusting, The Pacers could just buy Wallace out as he would serve little purpose with us.
Also I don't feel like the Miles experiment isn't working out, other than that one game the other day he's blown chunks.
This deal opens the possibility that the Pacers could move Ian at a later date.
If this could be done adding the #1 picks and 3 young players changes the looks of the Pacers dramatically.

I like Copeland but he's faded badly in the last 2 weeks after looking good. Sometimes guys that are not used to playing a lot look great at first then get worn out. Lance IS a big time player he proved that last year. Is he a little wack? Yeah but he can mature. He'd be starting at Point for us right now and putting up huge numbers, I think where ever Lance goes he should be the Point Guard.

I would rather take the chance of roy opting out next year then takin on those 3. The money they save with roy opting out could potentially lead to a better player next summer

Re: Edit: Woj: A Lance return to the Pacers?
Scola is playing well. Cope is a stretch 4 that has tried valiantly to play the 3 because we needed a 3, but the need would be gone if Lance were to return. between Damo and Lavoy, we've got prospects at the 4 and as long as we don't trade our pick, the lottery might give us additional options there. that said, it won't be easy to match Lance's dollars without including DWest.

What about Reggie Jackson? This team could use a explosive point guard like him. I just don't know what the pacers have that OKC would want?

You don't think that getting Olynyk, Young and 2 #1 picks is worth taking on Wallace for hibbert? You can buy out Wallace or trade him as an expiring next season. I'd rather just buy him out and you have a young big in Olynyik and another youngster in Young. On the Char side of it you get back Lance and Cody Zeller for Scola, Cope and Miles and maybe you can get a pick as well. That's 3 young players on rookie contracts 3 #1 picks and Lance who is only making $9 million and on a short 3 yr deal. The down side is Wallace and the cost to buy him out.
I'd like to take my chances with Lance and the 3 youngsters plus the 3 extra picks.

There is no way we get Reggie Jackson from the Thunder! He may become a free Agent after the season if we could do the trades I suggested and that's a big IF we'd have stuff to offer in a S&T. I could see George Hill being a good fit next to Westbrook. But they can't and won't do Hill for Jackson right now. After they lose in the playoffs again they are gonna be looking to do something.

I just don't see zeller and olynyik leading the pacers to the promise land. I see them as merely role players I'd rather see the pacers use Roy's money to go sign a proven player that will help them win the championship next yearbasketballwacko2 wrote:mikepacernation wrote:I would rather take the chance of roy opting out next year then takin on those 3. But if the pacers were to get vonleh instead of zeller then by all means do it. I think vonleh has more upside then zeller but this is just my opinion
