Why for Miami: Luol Deng has played really well for us, but he is not the player we need. We need some help in the power rotation that can produce when Bosh is out (like now). Greg Monroe, even though he isn’t the perfect player, will help us get more rebounds and can score in the paint. While Bosh drifts outside, Monroe plays mostly inside, a place where Miami doesn’t have much presence when Birdman is off court. Together they might be a good force.
Miami is moving Andersen, Chalmers, Granger, and Cole to get cap space to sign Monroe to free agency. If that doesn’t happen, the GM will look really stupid, but there will be cap space galore - a year early. Mo Williams and Andrea Bargnani have no holds after June. Mo Williams helps the Heat with offense. Bargnani is damaged goods at the moment. Corey Brewer is going to play as SF with Granger and Deng gone. Ennis & Shawne Williams can back him up.

Why for Minn: Brewer and Williams are on their way out. Calderon has a year on his contract and is a great play creator that can play behind Rondo. Hardaway Jr & Early are good young talent and an excellent return for players that are leaving. If Minnesota is looking for a late first pick for Brewer, I think this is a little better. Hardaway at least shows he can play ball.

Why for Detroit: Monroe & either Anthony or Jerebko (New York can choose) are players that are leaving or not guaranteed. Chalmers and a Miami 2nd together with Granger (who is slowly returning to form) is reasonable return for Monroe. Chalmers showed his prowess when Wade was out. He is at least a good 6th man.

Why for New York: I think this is a really good deal for the Knicks. Luol Deng is a good player and they are also getting out of Calderon’s contract. Tossing Tim Hardaway Jr which should please Carmelo. Early was a good second round pick but he likely won’t play this year anyway. Joel Anthony and Jerebko are on the last year of their contracts. Andersen, Deng, & Cole have Player Options, but the Knicks will have cap space so they should be able to keep Deng. Birdman had a bad start for the year, but the last couple games he has come off the bench to play 16-20 minutes and grab almost 10 rebounds each game. Cole at the moment pisses off most Miami fans but he is still a player that has the capability of having a good game.

No reason for Detroit to do this, even if Monroe is leaving (and I'm confident he is) the return package has zero substance.

There is a second round pick. I would prefer 100 times over to send Ennis and keep Chalmers or Granger but the salaries don't work.

gom, I'd give them Ennis as well if that's all it takes. I'd love this Wildcat to stay a Heatle, but if he's the thing blocking this trade then he goes.

Changed it. I can't edit the trade checker transaction though... seems like it hangs. Salaries should almost be right. I don't think Detroit was the problem with salaries, but it might mean that Jerebko is the one that has to go to the Knicks.

Even if you are not a fan of Chalmers or Granger (and in Chalmers case I personally think it's unfair - he's been playing well this year), Detroit gets a 2nd round pick, and I also added James Ennis to the deal. If Miami is unable to sign Monroe, they are giving up 3 starters and a good prospect for nothing.

Calderon is a lot of salary to take on the next two season, and it tells LaVine he will never be PG, but I'd say yes for MIN.

At least when paired with Glen Robinson III, Tim Hardaway Jr. would help make the annual Father-Son game more interesting.

No from the Pistons. I see no usable assets from that deal.

The only problem I see for Minnesota is the roster is full so they can't do a 3 for 2 trade (and they will need to keep Adrien as a backup C now that Turiaf is gone). I don't know how close the salaries are but Minny could throw in Hummel to make that work.

I'm a little disappointed at the reception to this trade. I guess it shows that even when you are trying to not be biased to your team that your perception is still tainted. I tried to be generous to the Knicks and Wolves and Pistons to the detriment of the Heat (who get nothing guaranteed). Weird, but I guess that everybody values their own team's players even when their teams are performing poorly. All four teams are having disappointing seasons.

Oh well.

Cut Minnesota out. They are sucking out much more value than they are putting in.

I don't think it will matter much. I almost never see trades here that people agree with. It's probably easier to trade with "real GMs" than "realgms".

As a disinterested third party, you were too generous to the Wolves IMO.

OP why would NY need Deng? You do know they are tanking right? And he plays the same position as
they best player. There in no way in Hell Chris Andersen op out of his $5M deal. Norris Cole
made a careers hitting 3 because LBJ. Not happing now... Joel Anthony is just Joel Anthony
Enough said.
So would NY trade Calderon, THJ & Early for Deng? I don't thinks so, because they don't need him
with Melo at the 3 spot.
Would NY trade Bargnani exp deal for 2 years of Anderson @ $5M per ,Norris Cole, Joel Anthony?
No again.
This suck for NYK.

Detroit passes on that garbage.
