Michael Wilbon on Tim Tebow

Post#1 » by ChrisPozz » Fri Jan 9, 2015 3:28 am

"There's 15 teams in the NFL right now who should trade whoever they got, and particular everybody in Arizona, for Tim Tebow. It's ridiculous he's not playing. I love having him on TV but he should be playing."

I didn't need further evidence that he's pretty poor when discussing NFL almost all of the time, but wow! 15? 15?

Add MIchael Wilbon to the long list of NFL commentators who don't know their @zzes from a hole in the ground.

Saying you should start maybe the worst QB to ever play in the NFL is the 3rd rail. Now I know to tune this guy out.

It's pretty close. One could make a case saying Tebow is the worst QB to ever play in the NFL. Maybe Jim Druckenmiller or Spureon Wynn or Ryan Leaf or Ken Dorsey. But if Tebow's not the worst he's pretty close.

(Because I need to bring him up at least once a year....)

Cody Pickett says "Hi."

But I gotta say, I loved Tim Tebow in the NFL because everyone hated him so much. Plus I won a bet he'd beat the Steelers.

I wouldn't. At least JT could throw +10 yards with out being a douchey preacher

Good call. I actually liked Cody Pickett as an UDFA / 7th rounder, but he clearly wasn't good enough to play in the NFL.

This is one of the reasons people hate him and I don't get it. Hate him for his play not his religion.

I don't hate him for his religion. Reggie White is one of my all time favorites and he was a preacher, same with Issac Bruce, many of the greats are very religious. The main difference is they aren't annoying douche bags about it.

My scale of annoying sports personalities has Floyd Mayweater on one end, and Tim Tebow on the other. I'd rather be in a room full of angry ISIS members, than share a room with Tebow. At least ISIS would put me out of my misery.

Douche bag? Tim Tebow? Keep in mind I think he's one of the worst QBs to ever play the game, but douche bag???

In a league where athletes consistently get arrested, step on ach other's heads, pout during press conferences, self-promote, knock up 8 women at a time, cheat, rape, dog-fight, and even murder, you're calling Tim f'ing Tebow a douche bag????

The NFL has never seen a more polite, hard-working, deferential, supportive, positive-attitude, model teammate than Tim Tebow! Every word out of his mouth is about the team, effort, leading by example, etc. He got more heat & questions from the press for his Christianity than Ben Roethlisberger has about his rape allegations. And he's a douche bag because he answers those question genuinely instead of packaging it in a PC way for his non-Christian viewers?

Tim Tebow is the single least douchy player the NFL has ever seen. He never did a thing to harm anyone (or anyone's defense by the way), and he never had a cross word for a single person (including people who hated him for talking about his faith). The NFL would be lucky to have more Tim-Tebow-caliber character. VERY few of 'em do. He's the Barry Sanders of today in terms of character. He's the JJ Watt of QBs in that respect. The ONLY criticism he deserves is for sucking out loud.

Yep, douche beggary isn't that black and white. You can still be a douche bag with a squeaky clean prison record. Tim has achieved one of the highest levels of douche beggary. He is in the ninja master class of douche bags. Your cold war era douche radar might miss him, but mine is cutting edge and he makes it go haywire.

If you think Tim doesn't self promote, it's only because his howdy doody smoke screen threw you off. He is a master self promoter. We had hall of fame players who where ordained ministers with 10+ year careers, they almost never got the attention Tim did for it, because they were more humble than Tim. Tim is only pseudo humble. Tim is the type to go on a trip to Vegas and condescend everyone there, because he takes sin city literally.

If my daughter had the choice of a squeaky clean tim tebow christian or a flawed Johnny Cash Christian, I'd beg her to take the flawed Johnny Cash. Johnny might have had drug problems, but he has a level of authenticity and humanity that Tim lacks.

The other players you referenced may be pieces of ****, but Tim is the most corny piece of ****.

Sorry Tebow didn't smoke crack, beat up women, rape a few chicks, leave a dead body in a trunk and kick anyone in the face to get out of your category of douche bags. I will never fault anyone for their faith unless I start hearing Alluh Ackbar and then I will do as I was trained and blast them straight to hell. But to each their own. This is America for a little while still and everyone is entitled to their opinion regardless of rationality. Tim got the attention because twenty years ago people weren't out suing each other for using the G word or suing to make sure no one dares make any kind of religious display , reference or symbol in public. I could care less if you worship god, a pumpkin, a piece of lint or nothing at all its your choice hence why we have freedom of religion in this country. You don't like Tebow cool story bro. The media overhyped him and he is not a good quarterback on that merit he sucks. As a person you just have way too much vitriol stored up for the wrong things.

says the guy who will shoot someone just for being a Muslim lol.

I won't shoot tim. I'd probably shoot myself in the face if i saw him walking toward me though.

I like plenty of other Christians. I just find Tim annoying to the highest degree.

The media didn't over hype it for no reason, he played into it and pushed it every chance he got. He had a faith based inferiority complex.

Again, criminals aren't the only douche bags. there is a slide scale of douche baggary, tim is on the nice guy extreme of it.

A "nice guy" douche bag huh?

Wish the world had a lot more nice-guy douche bags. It would be a much better place.
