Arsenal May Not Have Spot For Mesut

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jan 19, 2015 6:10 pm

The future of Mesut Özil at Arsenal is uncertain as Arsène Wenger is currently favoring a 4-1-4-1 formation. It was in this shape that Francis Coquelin showed the benefits of a mobile and selflessly intelligent “double bolt” midfielder in front of the defense, while Santi Cazorla in central midfield provided energy and a place to rest the ball as Arsenal regrouped.

Özil isn't well-suited for this type of formation. Özil is at his best when given time against a packed defense to find the right pass.

Yeah, keep the formation, leave out your best player. Smart.

Alexis Sanchez is their best player... by a mile.

If you watched any Gunners games, the attacking is much more fluid with Cazorla, than with Ozil. Ozil always seems to pass left / right rather than forward.

They bought him as the Messiah and now there is no room for him in the starting lineup.
Who could've guessed that this would happen?
