Not sure what the point of this thread is, but the current team is better than your hypothetical one.

Why Jones instead of Motiejunas?

What if we had lost the Howard sweepstakes in 2013?
and signed Paul Millsap and Brandon Jennings with that $20 million in cap space instead?
Would we be better off with Asik/Millsap/Parsons/Jennings/Harden
than Howard/Jonestijunas/Ariza/Beverley/Harden
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Isn't ASIK having a terrible year?

I ask this as a huge fan of him

Better than last year. 10.2 rpg in only 25.7 mpg is pretty good. Shot blocking is down but Davis gets a lot of those.

#1 has way better defense than #2. A Dragic + Harden offense is less versatile than a Harden + Howard offense, especially with stone hands Asik in the paint. I think #1 is much more preferable.

Harden + Asik + Parsons + Beverley + Garcia/Lin = lost to Thunder in 6 games. Eliminated in 1st round
Harden + Howard + Parsons + Beverley + Jones/Asik = lost to Blazers in 6 games. Eliminated in 1st round

We need a second ball handler who can create other than Harden

We need to play defense. Our problem was never offense.

2012-2013 #2 Offense Regular season/#4 Offense Post season #26 Defense regular season/#15 Defense Post season (2nd to last)
2013-2014 #2 Offense Regular season/#1 Offense Post season #21 Defense regular season/#16 Defense Post season (last)

Howard/Beverly defense is better than Dragic/Asik. Plus, you can still post up Howard. It's ugly, but it's there. Combine that with Ariza over Parsons, I think it's a pretty easy choice.
