Have you noticed the three point shooting ?

Post#1 » by Thunderhead » Sun Feb 1, 2015 2:27 pm

Or to be exact, the lack of three point shooting ?

A lot of Thunder stats are distorted this season, due to KD and Russ missing so many games, but that does not impact 3P shooting.

Thunder are 27th in the league in 3P % , at .318

Thunder have four players shooting over 30 %, and one of those guys is on the end of the bench and never plays

I think this impacts the offense in a great way, there's no floor spacing. Russ, KD, Reggie, and I've seen Waiters .. all have good skills at getting to the basket. Reggie's biggest skill is ability to finish. But I'm thinkin, they can't drive because there is no threat from the perimeter and teams are crowding the paint.

Ball movement helps most teams, but does not help the Thunder when the ball is moving to an open player who can't shoot.

If the " others " on the team can not knock down 3P shots, then its gonna be ever tougher for Russ and KD.

Last year, DFish and Butler was providing the 3P shooting, DFish hit 38 % and Butler was at 44%.

I think this is a huge problem, this and KD not staying healthy, are the biggest problem the team has, to my thinking.

waiters and reggie are great at penetrating the opponents defense. Teams dare them to shoot, making our 3 pt % terrible. We need more spot up shooters like morrow, durant, ibaka.

Also , take note, that Thunder are 14th in league in 3P attempts, while 27th in 3P % .... which says they take inordinate amount considering how successful they are at shooting that shot.
