GT: Spurs vs. Pelicans

Post#1 » by Nolan » Tue Apr 14, 2015 3:12 pm

When: 8:00 PM ET, April 15, 2015
Where: Smoothie King Center, New Orleans, LA

Last game of the regular season and it's going to be an important one of us and the Pelicans. If we win we're the 2nd seed if the Pelicans win they're the 8th seed. Should be a good one.

Go Spurs!!

The playoffs start this game. Should be a great one to see Davis vs Duncan (which is crazy because Tim could be his Dad age wise).

We'll be rooting for you guys even harder than usual!
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

So, if we win, we face the Mavs I presume. If we lose, we face the Trailblazers.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pop rested a few players for this one. Personally I prefer to play the Mavs. Lamarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard scare me with their athleticism. On the other hand you have the Mavs with Dirk, Tyson Chandler, Rondo, Ellis. Quite a good team on paper, but it hasn't really worked out for them yet.

What's your favorite matchup ?

Carlise and the Mav's scare me, they've struggled a bit since the Rondo trade but a team with that much talent and experience isn't going to be an easy out. On the other hand the Blazers are talented but they're also pretty banged up, Matthews and Wright are out for sure, Afflalo's going to miss a few games and Aldridge, Batum and Kaman are all nursing nagging injuries.

If we win, we get the 2nd seed. If we lose and Houston/Memphis win, SA falls to the 6th seed. That's why this game is so important.

Rockets will be playing the Jazz in Houston and Memphis will play against Indiana.

Honestly, the whoever faces Portland gets the easiest matchup. No because of their team, but because of their injuries.
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

Other than Tony, we are looking awful! Hats off to Davis and the Pelicans. They're fircing is into crappy jumpers and running us off the three. They scored 34 on 68% shooting. Doesn't get much better.

Only lost the 2nd by one point and the Pels are shooting over 60%. I have a feeling we're not out of this one yet.

Anthony Davis is my favorite non-Spur, so congrats! The Pelicans at least have a chance to beat Golden State, all be it a distant shot.

Yeah it sucks that we lose, but I'm happy for the pelicans. They totally deserved this win. They defended us really well and they came out with great energy. Very happy for Monty.

Frustrating. I can't decide what I want. #6 means Clips in the first round, and that'll be a tough series... but it also means we avoid GS until the WCF, assuming both teams make it that far.

#5 means Portland with HCA, but also GS in the second round.

Man... brutal. This would have been a nice game to win.

I'm thinking the series will go in the Spurs favor 4-2. What will snakebite the Clips will be their lack of depth and the inability to defend the pick and roll schemes the Spurs always dish out. The Spurs will have to slow down the Clips in transition to keep them from scoring points in a hurry. Otherwise, the Spurs get caught on their heels, they will be in trouble in a hurry.

I hope you're right about the series count. The Clips lack depth, but with shorter rotations, that won't matter as much. I like our chances against anyone, but as well as L.A. has been playing, that's a hell of a first-round matchup.

At least we won't see GS in round 2 if we survive.

Well, the good thing is I don't have to stomach Westbrook any more this year.

In a crazy way, I feel sorry for the Thunder due to the season they had with the injuries and all. And at the same time, I'm glad that Anthony Davis will get to experience his first playoff series in his young NBA career. This has been one helleva way to finish off the NBA season.
