I will take Hawks in 6. The thing that might save us is if one of the banged up Hawks goes down. The other is if we don't start Nene but go with a stretch 4 to start.

Hawks not having Sefolosha + Horford - finger, Teague - ankle, Millsap - shoulder definitely help.

The Raptors series may have inflated how-good the Wizards actually are. The Raps completely imploded.

The Hawks are the better team, so Randy is really going to have to step-it-up.

I'm going with the Wizards in 6. I'm pressing the "I believe" button, and expect the Wizards to give them a fight even if they lose. The Hawks are banged up and the Wizards are rested. The key will be Korver. If we can force him to shoot poor numbers, this puts stress on the rest of the team.

By piling up factors (injuries, Wittman's "evolving" coaching philosophy, shooters going on hot streaks, Wizards truly arriving at another level of team play) such that they break in the Wizards favor, I'm starting with the optimistic premise that the Wizards can take the Hawks to 6 or seven games. Since I'm practically there, I'll join sfam with a Wizards in 6 prediction. Since I'd rather they win than be right, I might as well just predict they will win, because no matter how negligible their odds might be, I still think they can win.

May as well predict negative results as I did before the Toronto series.

I'm not going to change now. :)

If Washington just sticks to fundamental defense, which they're good at, instead of overreacting and trying to "solve" the Hawks system by staying ahead of their ball movement, like they did in the regular season, this matchup will come down on John and Brad's ability to continue taking the next step and take over a series. If they do that, Washington wins, if not, Atlanta's veteran saavy will get the best of the Wizards. That's ultimately how I see it playing out.

I recall John in round two last year. I don't want to see him trying to do too much. Same with Beal. His offense can be brutal if he's forcing things. They will take a bunch of long twos if they lose focus.

The Hawks will have trouble adjusting to the defensive intensity & physicality of the Wizards. Teague in particular will be overmatched by Wall. Wizards win in 6. Game 1 is key to whether its a short series for Washington or a long series that could potentially go either way. How fast will the Wizards shake the rust off? They can't shoot like they did versus Toronto in game 1 and expect to win against Atlanta.

Arturo's model is all over the Wizards. Yes, you are reading that right -- it has the Wiz as 68% likely to win the series.

Man, I hope he's right. ECF would be sublime.
