Beckenbauer: Time For Gotze To Grow Up From Juvenile Behavior

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu May 7, 2015 5:10 pm

Mario Gotze has received criticism in recent weeks with his disappointing performances for Bayern Munich and has surprisingly been linked to a return to Borussia Dortmund.

Gotze has fallen down Pep Guardiola's pecking order despite injuries to Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

The Bayern boss opted to play inexperienced winger Mitchell Weiser ahead of him during the recent DFB Pokal semifinal defeat to Dortmund and he did not make the starting XI against Barcelona.

"He sometimes looks like a youth player to me, the way he loses the ball and stops playing," said Franz Beckenbauer.

"That behavior is a little bit juvenile. It just doesn't fit at FC Bayern. It's time for him to finally grow up. We of course know that he is an outstanding talent, but he has yet to translate it [into consistent performances]."
