Tobias Harris Stays With Magic, 4 Year/64 Mill

Post#1 » by wfiles » Thu May 21, 2015 3:10 am

I see so many posts here wanting the Lakers to sign Tobias Harris. The guy doesn't play much defense. Do you want a No Defensive Frontcourt of Harris, Randle, and Okafor?

I don't, and I haven't read anyone who does...
On Harden being MVP of this season ( I don't even like Harden much)

He's a bad fit because he likes to play in the post a lot but his defense is quite adequate even when guarding 4s.

Why would we want a ball-dominant wing player at SF. All I want is a competent 3 and D wing like Trevor Ariza or Kent Bazemore (why did we let him go? I get to watch him help ATL every game with his defense, athleticism, energy, and shooting while he's only getting paid basically nothing).

I don't want him. I'd rather throw some money at a player like Danny Green, who can just fit in and be a piece of a championship team.

Danny Green's going to be a big loss for the Spurs if he goes. He has his flaws but defenders who can shoot like him are few and far between. Would love to see him in our uniform.

id be up for mathews until he hurt the achilles...ill take middleton though, for the right price....demarre carroll was another one and he just got hurt badly last night...

of all the 3's somewhat available my top 3 choices would be kawhi/draymond/butler....followed by harris/carroll/middleton/matthews.

A lot of guys have been calling for him, so to say it hasn't been all over this board is wrong.

I'd consider him depending on who we draft. If Minnesota picks Okafor, then I can see him fitting in on the wing if we grab Towns (who offensively will take time to develop). If we get Okafor, I don't like the fit very much/don't see how he'd get the touches to develop everyone.

I'm not really even factoring in Kobe, but we're going to need a lot of help offensively next year and even more when Kobe retires. Clarkson, kOLDbe, and two rookies might need a guy who can be counted on to dump the ball to. That means either a scoring wing or a scoring PG depending on where Clarkson fits in.

With Green, who would guard big wings like LeBron or Leonard?

Tobias is 22 years old. Tobias averaged 17 ppg, which is more than anyone on this team can say over an extended period. He is the least likely rfa to be matched solely because Orlando is in a spot where they have one lotto sf in Gordon and are likely drafting Winslow too; Butler will get matched and so will Middleton, but Tobias is in a scenario like Parson where he can be paid and join the team. HE can play the 3/4. He has a set of balls on him, unlike Lin, Wes, and a number of other guys which is why hes won games at the buzzer and outright trash talked Bron without fear.

The LAkers summer could be

2 - Okafor
27 - Rondae Hollis JEfferson
34 - Delon Wright ( think upshaw may get picked up late first now by Memphis)

12mil - Tobias
8 mil - Rondo
3 mil - Ed Davis
Room - Booz

Rondo
Kobe
Tobias
Randle
Okafor
Clarkson
Young
RHJ
Boozer
Ed
Black
Wright
Brown
Sacre
Kelly

I think the better question is why do people keep thinking RHJ is going to fall to 27th.

Because he has periods of inconsistency. And his game ins't pegged to one specific that you know he can do well. From the games I saw of him he has periods of disappearing offensively and defensively, shows erratic shot selection....shall I go on ?

But he is a good player, he needs NBA coaching and he needs to define one point of his game and play to his strength.

And for the Harris question....don't need, don't want. All dude is concerned with is chasing points.

I mean, realistically, there's not a lot of guys in the league who can guard players like those. Harris is more of a PF with the ability to play SF in stretches. Very similar to how Lamar Odom was when it comes to his natural and best position. Everyone always wanted them to play with that Odom-Gasol-Bynum lineup, but the reality is, it wasn't as efficient. We'd have the same issues with Harris/Randle/Okafor.

You draft Okafor, you get a solid wing defender in Hollis-Jefferson, and how about someone like Brandon Dawson in the second round from Michigan State? You want a big body who can move and play D against guys like LeBron, Leonard, etc? He's a capable answer.

With Randle, Okafor/Towns, Bryant, Clarkson, that line up definitely needs a floor spacer. Danny Green would be a great fit.

Fair question. If he's gone, Jarrell Martin from LSU (who I saw play numerous times this year) is a player who maybe has more potential that would go a little bit later in the draft.

Because I personally have the draft shaking out

Towns - Okafor - Muiday - Russell - Winslow
Stein - Prog - Kaminsky - Mario - Dekker
Turner - Johnson - Oubre - Lyles - Looney
Porter - Grant - Booker - Jones - Woods
Hunter - Payne - Upshaw - Vaughn - Harrell
Anderson - RHJ - McCullough - De Paula - Wright

I think one of Anderson/RHJ will fall but hopes its RHJ. Same goes for De Paula or Wright and I'm hoping wright. I think Upshaw gets picked up late first by Memphis
