Why is Memphis looking at guys with lengthy injury histories

Well to be fair this report comes from Cam Rose saying its actually the Pelicans pursing this trade and Memphis more or less laughed.
Erman likes Green a lot , but this does not work for a few reasons, contracts dont match up well and Gordon is both injury prone and Small.
Pels also want CLee as part of the deal

Pels want:
Green for Gordon frame work with CLee and Martin as part of the deal
Memphis counters asking for just compensation, want Ryno and Draft compensation
Guess work on Pels original offered trade:
Green, Lee, Martin for Gordon + 2 firsts
Guess work on MEM counter offer:
Mem out:
Green, Lee , Carter, Rights to Calathes
NO out:
Gordon,Ryno, 2017 1rst ,
CHA out:
Brian Roberts
MEM in:
Gordon, Ryno, 2017 1rst
NO in:
Roberts, Green, Lee
CHA in:
Carter, Rights to Calathes
Compromise:
Mem out:
Green, Lee , Carter, Rights to Calathes , rights to Martin
NO out:
Gordon,Ryno, 2017 1rst , 2018 future second round pick from NO
CHA out:
Brian Roberts
MEM in:
Gordon, Ryno, 2017 1rst , 2018 future second round pick from NO
NO in:
Roberts, Green, Lee, Rights to Martin
CHA in:
Carter, Rights to Calathes
Honestly, I hate it for Memphis even then. Ryno would be a good fit and we get a first, but even with just 1 year on Gordon, he is too injury prone and overpaid. What this does do however is gut our wing rotation clearing minutes for Adams, and it gives us a couple roster spots going into FA.
