Riley is hellbent on making sure LBJ never wins a title again

Post#1 » by 420 » Sat Jul 4, 2015 6:31 am

Anyone else feel the same way? I really feel he is so motivated to stick it to LeBron and this is some of his best GM'ing I've seen from him. For example, he's finally embracing international players (Dragic) and got him for practically free. He also got a steal in Whiteside. He got Wade to re-sign for 1yr so we wouldn't sacrifice our cap flexibility in 2016. I think Deng might be a bit overpaid, but a lot of people were pretty high on him. While I remain skeptical of draft picks, the Heat got one of the best draft ratings and what many people consider a steal in Justise Winslow. And even though LMA is a long shot, it shows that Riley is really pulling no punches in getting this team back in title contention.

I seriously thought this team was done for and re-signing Wade and Bosh in 2015 was a big mistake. I thought they should've blown it up. But after watching what Riley did, it seems the Heat are looking like they can make it to the Finals. A lot of stuff has to go their way (health and continued improvement from 2015), but if it does, they're looking at an ECF appearance and possibly a Finals appearance.

Disclaimer: I didn't watch the 2015 NBA season since I protested this rigged, socialist-communist BS. But after hearing that Wade re-signed, I decided to look back at all the players the Heat got and some of the highlights of their season.

I think if LeBron didn't leave Riley would have been planning on retirement right now. I think that says everything. I think he views winning a title over/without LeBron as his last mission.

No one disrespects Riles the Don... #23 did disrespect him by making him fly to Vegas jus to smile in his face with a hidden agenda (heading back to Cleveland) and not cut the crap plus growing a pair to tell the God father that he doesn't want back but he took the hoe route...

Nah. Riley is hell bent on winning championships. That is why he put the Big 3 together in the first place. He wants to continue winning championships. If that comes true then Lebron would lose in the process and it is probably a bonus. But don't fool yourself, if Lebron asks to come back Riley would take him if it helped him win more rings (though this time he won't be blinded and would treat him as nothing more than a rental).

If you've ever seen Jordan's Hall of Fame speech where he basically talked a bunch of trash  he had a part where he mentioned Riley. IMO Riley was one of the few he didn't trash. He mentioned how Riley was the only guy he ever met that was as competitive as he was. This was high praise.

Riles is all about the rings and stays focused on the big picture. Trying to stop Lebron as a goal is just petty stuff.

At the very least, he's reinvigorated. Losing LeBron must've been tough.

Past is the past, Riley bends for no one, people bend over for him. We juiced out LBJ and that's all that matters.

This title is too misleading, reminds of me Dan Gilbert's opening letter title, pls no.

I always found it funny how so many people around the Country tried to kick Riley while he was down. Calling him overrated any chance they got. Riley is the best GM/President in the NBA period. The respect is clearly there around the league. Look at the Lakers they haven't been able to keep up with the modern day NBA player. Riley as old school as he is hasn't had that problem.

The Lakers thought the fact that they were in LA would sell itself because they're a storied franchise… well players don't care about that. They care about the now and in the last 10 years we've made the finals 5 times.

Players still respect Riley which is evident by the Aldridge meeting even though we didn't have cap space and by Goran forcing his way here. Opposing Coaches and GM's fear him (Pop requesting a second meeting to ease any concerns after LMA talked to Riley)

LeBron wants to be a Player/Coach/GM let him. We're not the Cavs we'll be fine.

James has nothing to do with our campaign IMO. Winning championships and leaving the HEAT in a dominant position so that his replacement won't have a ****storm on their hands is apparent.

Not everything revolves around LeBron **** James. I almost feel like this thread is disrespectful to Riley, as if he cares more about preventing someone else from winning than winning his damn self.
