doesn't seem like the deal will happen, August 1st the deadline but all I see offered is trash.

They can always turn him into a TPE. Which they should do before all the cap space is gone.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

For the Cavs the TT thing needs to play out before any move on Haywood is completed, and free agency in general for most other teams before they decide to do a salary dump. Besides, you don't just jump at the first offer when moving an asset, it is usually better to wait to see if anyone will get desperate and up the ante. Unless of course you get knocked off your feet by someones offer.
I am not worried by the lack of movement on this, and like someone said getting an exception for the contract isn't the worst thing that can happen.

We're just gonna get a TPE no doubt.

I'd like to finish up the Thompson extension, then trade Haywood straight up for the best NBA level player we can get. Hopefully he is an expiring or a 2 year guy.

That's still not bad, though. Opportunities will present themselves mid-season as teams figure out who they are and what they have/don't have. Also, you'd get a chance to see what you truly need and target that.

I think the Cavs will probably let it lapse or go the TPE route.

We have enough cap space to make a trade with Nuggets for Gallo for Haywood + 1 draft pick + Kaun?

Are the Cavs still talking to the Clippers for Calderon?
