Here's my post from the T&T board on this topic —

DocRI wrote:My take — the entire top of the Western Conference should be "under" bets. There's just no way there are three 60+ win teams in the same conference (SA, GS & OKC), and it would take 56 wins from the Clips to win an "over" bet, too. The conference is still just too damn deep to be that top heavy. Look at how many teams finished on top of each other this year in the mid-50's of wins; have those top four really separated themselves so much that they'll be 10 games better than MEM and HOU? And, by the way, for that very reason, I think MEM and HOU are pretty solid "over" bets.

And now time for my quick "homer alert" — DET's an easy "over." We won 32 games last year after starting 5-23, taking a ton of injuries, and also overturning half the roster at the trade deadline. And the team even seemed to play better down the stretch last year when Monroe was hurt, so his loss shouldn't be that big of a factor. If everything else stays exactly the same, all we'd have to do is go 8-20 in our first 28 games to win an "over" bet. And I know it doesn't work that way, but it illustrates just HOW MUCH that atrocious start effected our final win total; despite all the other craziness, we were actually 27-27 after Josh Smith was cut. If we were around a .500 for the last 2/3 of last season, betting 35 wins (which would be an "over" bet) is still betting for a fairly significant backslide.

Yeah I'd say 36-38 at worst

Vegas sleeping on us
I came here to do two things: get lost and slice **** up & I'm all out of directions.

Yeah, I try to look at these objectively every year, and I usually stay away from the Pistons line because of potential bias... but 34.5 is REALLY low for us.

That and under on the Spurs are the two best bets on this list. That old team isn't going to take the RS seriously enough to get 63+ wins.

I never bet on sports, but I'm seriously considering plunking down a grand on the Pistons over, easily. What's the payout on that?

Hawks over, too. 46.5? Carroll was 14 wins? Too well-coached to fall off that badly.

Over. No analysis went into those projections. They look like uneducated guesses based on the end of the season numbers. lol

Pardon my ignorance, but how does one go about betting on this?

I bet $300. This should add to how mad I get this year.

Couldn't stomach more than that. I hate gambling.

Return to Detroit Pistons
