Is the community satisfied with our draft

Post#1 » by Patrick1978 » Sat Aug 22, 2015 11:17 am

Buna ziua din romania
First i was really upset with our draft pick mario hezonja.first because my favorites were frank Kaminsky,Bobby portis, sam dekker.second because there have been some rumours about mario s character.
I never questioned his quality as a Player.
Now he is here and i will support him, after hearing his interviews i am sure his character is good.

So my friends give me your opinion about our draft pick

 I have to admire your commitment.

To answer the question though, yes I am and so is the majority of the board. It's just you.

Yes everyone loves him except you. Why did you want us to take late first round prospects with a top 5 pick anyway?

I wanted Myles Turner 1st. Hezonja was 2nd for me. Still very excited about Hezonja and think we may have picked the wing with the highest upside, but still concerned about finding the right fit next to Vucevic. Turner offered the ability to stretch the floor and block shots and rebound from both the PF and C spots. But we also needed shooting and a dynamic scorer, and Hezonja fits the bill.

I really wanted Mr. Trade-daown. To get any of your interests in Kaminsky, Pportis, or Dekker, Orlando could have brought in a future asset.

But at the time of the draft, it was not certain that Harris would resign, and at the time, drafting for the wing did make sense.

My problem today with Hezonja at 5 is that it looks a lot like Orlando drafted for its 3rd string SG.

What Orlando needs next depends on Gordon's growth as a PF.

yep, very satisfied but it is one of these things that only time will tell. Hezzy could be one of those players that hits from year 1 like a Lillard or a Kyrie or it'll take some time like a Klay Thompson. It's kinda how some people were thrown last year with the Aaron Gordon pick and criticized it but now that some time has passed you can't know for sure, plus there isn't really anyone we passed on that's making us regret picking AG. Best thing to do is wait and see for yourself, won't be too much longer before we see i think it's 40 something days until the first pre-season game.

I like Hezonja at #5 more than any pick the Magic have made since the Dwight Howard pick in 2004. That's a credit to how much I like Hezonja because the Magic have made a few good draft choices between then and now. The Magic needed outside shooting from the wing and they got an NBA-ready shooter in Hezonja. He also does a lot of other things well at an NBA level. I have a lot of gripes with the front office as you all know, but the Hezonja selection is not one of them.

HAHAH ...

Every Magic fan rated Towns as the best fit for this team. It was widely reported that Hennigan did every reasonable effort to move up to grab him or Okafor. But when #5 and Gordon is not enough to move two-or-three positions, then a team moves on with Hezonja.

With Winslow, Cauley-Stein, and Mudiay all still on the board, Hezonja honestly was just about the last player I would have expected the Magic to draft. I also liked the idea of trading down for Myles Turner and others. History will ultimately be the judge, but the Hennigan-era Magic front office hasn't given us much reason to doubt their ability to draft well. I was even more dumbfounded with the AG pick last year, but that pick has looked pretty good lately. Just gotta trust the process.

We got the guy I wanted. Tbh I liked this draft quite a bit and believe we have come out of it with a really good prospect. I liked Johnson too but hezonja, with his size and shooting ability, was obviously too good to pass up. There are alot of off court things to keep an eye on with him but from a pure basketball perspective he was a top 3 or 4 player in this draft.

I left Hezonja off most of my draft conversation posts because I really didn't get around to watching his tape until late in the process.

His dribble is high which will lead to a lot of turnovers early in his career and some say his character is questionable but after that there was not a single player in the draft (outside of top 3) with game tape that got me as excited as Hezonja. Others might have been safer picks but he has more upside than anyone available at #5.

We have a roster full of reliable young talent. We need a super star. So I'm very happy with going for the upside rather than the safety.

I like Mario, but think he will eventually become more of a SF after a few years.

I think Mario's game is much better suited for the NBA than Europe.

Hezonja was the right pick given who was available. So much talent on this team now. So many potential superstars that id almost be surprised NOT to see one of these guys become one.
