Good read, although I don't agree we need another year in the draft lottery. I think the guys will still develop, but that mentality of develop now-win later should be over with. We are in win now mode. It's time for a culture change.

Go Magic!!!

Thanks for the link. I agree with you 100%, I don't really understand the proscription that we need another year in the lottery. Vucevic and Harris are entering their primes and they are surrounded by 4 lottery picks on their rookie contracts. Initiate win-now mode baby!

This is what worries me a little. If we don't see significant improvement this season then they'll need to make a change to this roster. You know because if we don't its: "They have Vuc and Harris in their primes, surrounded by 4 lottery picks and still cant win."

Players primes to me are years 26-30, so I feel Vooch and Harris are still developing.

other than Victor Oladipo, nobody is strong as an on-ball defender.

The team is very young but should be talented enough to win 30-35 games in the East at this point. We certainly could be in the draft lottery again, but I'd expect us to be in the 9-13 pick range. If a healthy Magic squad can't do that, then maybe it IS back to the drawing board for Hennigan...

^^That's a cool pic of Payton by the way. And I agree, he is a strong on-ball defender.

All eyes are on Vuc. If the defense doesn't work with Skiles designing it, questions about wether an upper echelon team can be built minus a defensive anchor in the middle will quickly fester. Hopefully Gordon and Dedmon will step in at PF and deflect that situation from ever happening. But if not, that could have the most impact in a trajectory change for the roster.

AG is probably our best on-ball defender and this guy only lists Dipo?
