I mean anybody could've predicted that, more referring to the years when we had Dwight. Pretty sure they never had us doing that well.

I know it's not ESPN, but I remember in '09 when Kenny Smith picked Philly to beat us in the 1st round, Boston to beat us in the 2nd round, Cleveland to sweep us in the conference finals, and finally the Lakers to beat us in the finals. He gloated after the Lakers won. "I told you Chuck".

Stopped taking it seriously when they said Tobias Harris being our Kevin Durant...

This team is built much more differently than that young OKC team.

One thing about projections...............

They are not always right and at least one team a year always surprises.

I think we are thinking about how were going to bump up this thread in April when our Magic are in the playoffs.

A very interesting comment from ESPN:
With Payton and Victor Oladipo running the backcourt, the team finished with the lowest free throw/field goal ratio in the NBA and the fifth-lowest of the 3-point era.

Lowest Free Throw/Field Goal Ratios
TEAM ................. FTA/FGA
2012-13 76ers ..... 0.146
2012-13 Magic ..... 0.149
2011-12 76ers ..... 0.161
2005-06 Suns ...... 0.166
2014-15 Magic ..... 0.168

Oof.

SO Orlando has sucked the last years in part, not only from having a horrible FT%, but also from having far few FT attempts.

This clearly is a major area for the team to work on.

This is a reasonable projection. I don't think they are taking into account the Skiles effect though

One of my biggest legitimate concerns with this group. I'm not sure Hezonja's going to help much based on his Euro free throw rate, but we'll see.

Skiles shrugs it off and talks about guys with a natural knack for drawing fouls. Great...

30-35 wins seems like a reasonable improvement to expect out of this group.

I don't think it's that outlandish to think this team will win 30-33 games. We still have **** PF play, can't get to the line, and unless Skiles works some wonders we still have **** defense. Yes this team has improved, but so has almost every team in the East so you can't just look at this team in a vacuum and not compare it to the rest of the East.

Last year a lot of people on here thought we would make the playoffs and look what happened.. When you look at linear progression the Bucks are the exception not the norm

I think Payton can make major improvements there once he gets his FT% up. I think sometimes he avoids contact because he's not a good shooter.

I think drst meant that we get zero respect from officials, so working on getting calls kind of seems impossible. Damn nba refs and their favoritism.

Yea...there's certainly some improvement that can be made by players to draw a few more fouls per game, but the huge discrepancy really comes down to the fact that the refs just swallow their whistles for unknown reasons. Just this pre-season game vs Indy was a shining example of that ticky-tack, blatantly one-sided gamecalling.
