So what are the chances of us pursuing Schroeder?
He is young AF, has great court vision, and is probably closer to the player JKidd wants MCW to be. Think they'd consider MCW for him?

Im gonna say no that ATL would do that trade. They will want a 1st round pick at minimum for DS. I do however think he would be a great fit at pg for us even though he is not a great 3 point shooter he is at least average.

The time to pursue Schroeder was probably when we still had the Lakers pick.

Re: So what are the chances of us pursuing Schroeder?
Schroeder was the guy I wanted us to pick at #15 (thank you John Hammond), so I'd be all for this move. Don't know what the Hawks would want for him but I'm guessing it won't be cheap.
I'd be willing to offer a lotto protected 1st, and a prospect like Ennis or Plumlee. But they probably wouldn't go for it.

Re: So what are the chances of us pursuing Schroeder?
Is this a holdover from the 2013 draft where everyone on here wanted this dude? The Hawks would never do that trade, and in any case I don't want the Bucks to try. I like him a bit, but Schröder is ball dominant, more so than even MCW (horrors!), and is not what the Bucks need at all in a point guard right now.

We need to expect big things. He's entering his prime. Great body for a contender.

Re: So what are the chances of us pursuing Schroeder?
I'm just not interested in Schroder. I don't see him amounting to much of an upgrade, if any, over MCW, so assuming he would cost more than MCW, I'd pass. If he's valued that highly around the league, I don't think that value matches up with what he'd actually bring to the team.

I consider a prospect anyone still on their rookie deal. But yeah, his upside is pretty much nil at this point. His greatest value is as a throw in to make salaries match in a bigger trade.

I'm very confident Kidd has his man in MCW.

Re: So what are the chances of us pursuing Schroeder?
Schroeder has a bad looking shot too. Not sure what this would accomplish. I understand his % was fine last year but I'm going to guess most were catch and shoot wide open looks as a result of their offensive ball movement. I would wager his % regresses this year as his form is not good at all. in the playoffs he was basically being dared to shoot, just like we see with MCW and Giannis.

I get building young around another young guy, but this team would be really legit with Jeff Teague and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he is the more attainable of the two.

Re: So what are the chances of us pursuing Schroeder?
He's 6'2.25 in shoes, 6'7.75 wingspan. So he's plenty long.
He's not ball dominant really, let alone more so than MCW. He's a good and willing passer. He averaged under 2.1 fg attempts per assist. MCW was almost 2.28. Sported a discernibly higher efficiency and lower turnover rate in the process. This is not to mention MCW often aimlessly dribbling away shot clock time because opponents are backing off him and he doesn't have the quickness to burn them anyway but he feels like he still want to have more of an influence than dumping the ball off.
Schroder doesn't have these issues nearly as much. He is quick, and you're going to guess wrong he was just taking wide open 3's last year. Regardless, all we need is a threat, and that reinforces he is one. In a small sample he's shooting it solidly from 3 again this preseason. The shot looks fine to me, and he's confident in it. He also shoots well from the line. Better than MCW there as well, at a younger age. Listen, we're going to eventually need a guy there who is a threat from the outside, and MCW is in all likelihood not that guy. The F.O. and fans supporting his presence on the roster will likely have to come to that realization sooner rather than later. I don't see the point in probably dwindling a current asset into nothing or even a liability, while losing more games in the process. Less fun this year and no point guard of the present/future.
It's not particularly relevant if the Hawks would prefer a 1st over MCW. What primarily matters is if MCW is worth a decent first. And if he is, we should be able to make a 3-way deal, if we can find one. This is the type of move we should be looking to make right now. But Kidd probably sees too much of himself in MCW. If he's looking for himself always, he's going to likely be looking for a very long time, because he was a pretty unique player.

Re: So what are the chances of us pursuing Schroeder?
Was there a report or anything that indicates Schroeder might be available? Or did something else change?
The Hawks are in the unenviable position of appearing to have a capped ceiling. Schroeder is one of the few players they have actually who could make a big jump.
If that is the case, maybe Teague would be the one who becomes available. We know Hammond tried his best to get him before and he has gotten a lot better since...but of course Kidd's opinion of our PG's in particular probably holds a whole lot of weight.
